Slipped a disk in my lower back last week and broke my right foot Saturday. Done with heavy squats anywhere from 6months to a years per doc. I am not sure If I can hold off that long.

Both were freak things. I bent over to get a shirt on the floor and my back locked and I had a sharp pain when I tried to stand up. Just fell on the bed and it worked its way back in after a few minutes. It was very sore when I went to the doc and he told me I slipped a disk. He said it was a little rare with people that keep their back muscles in as good of shape as mine are/were.

As for the foot I had sandles on and was horsing around with some friends and the were kinda having a leverage type battle and I took a step back and the sandle snapped right along with on of the flat bones on the top outside of my foot just above and infront of the ankle. It hurt so bad, I tossed up about 2 minutes later.

Awww, that is FUCKED! Im so sorry to hear that... my friend had his 3rd and 4th disks fused and has similar problems. Make sure you follow the doctors orders, my friend didnt and ended up having all kinds of complications, now he's fucked long-term...
His started with a slipped disk, and he tried to work through the pain, it isnt worth a lifetime of pain to do squats for 6 months... fuck it, rely on muscle memory and just come back and hit your legs hard when this is all over.
Sorry to hear about you bad luck!

You will recover and get back in the game. Don't worry about a lay off. I've seen muscle memory do some incredible things.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune my friend, try to keep a positive attitude. Tell yourself " It happenned, now I have to overcome and adapt." Give yourself some good rest and when the doc says you can go back at it ( minus the heavy squats ), ease your way back into a new routine that you can comfortably do respectful of you healing injuries. Keep your head up!!!!!

Dude, did you see a Chiro or an M.D.? I believe that you hurt yourself, however, is there any pain shooting from the area that is hurt (typically with a disc there is)?
As far as the prognosis, I did the same thing squatting. I spent two weeks in the hospital. I am now pretty much back to where I was before with a little residual pain from time to time.
The foot thing is going to be a wait and see thing. 6 months at the most probably.
Keep the faith.

Sorry to hear about that bro. The good news is that you can almost completely recover.

A couple of years ago I crushed two vertabrae in an accident, they told me I would never be able to do any heavy labour again.

After some rest and rehab, I am training almost completely normal now. The only changes are how you hold the weights in certain exercises, especially squats and deadlifts.

If you want some advice e-mail me.

bro, im sorry to hear this. im more than certain that you will make a full or near full recovery. i have never had any back/spine troubles but a few years back i "broke" my ankle. i say broke lightly because the finished product was the sole of my foot sitting next to my calf facing my head. if you can picture that. the doctor said it was the worst he had ever seen and he was amazed that it was still attached. he did a great job "putting me back together" hehe. i think that you may have to modify some of your future training but you can stay in the game if you want to. the year will be tough but youll make it. good luck bro.

oh yeah. LOL at being able to bench 2x what you squat. that rocks. i could only wish for that hehe. take care bro.
