R is regular... it is fast acting... I am using it right now... My bro is diabetic... I am 100% sure it is fast acting. Humalog is even faster acting... N or Nph is long lasting like 18hrs H I have never heard of... [This message has been edited by DREXX (edited August 31, 2000).] | ||

Humalog is the fastest. But among the ones you can get without a prescription, R is fastest. | ||

Animal if you are intersted in fast acting insulin got to the FDA website. I remember reading a press release there recently regarding different sources of insulin [ie pork, beef etc] and their relative speeds. I believe there was some reference to insulin which was derive from beef and the extremely high speed with which it acted. I think the issue was that FDA wouldnt allow entry of this form of insuline due to the potential contamination by bovine disease, but there was a big backlash, b/c some diabets were allergic to other versions of insulin, but could use this form. But as I said its been a while and the details are too cleaar in my mind. | ||
