I've gotta say it again. Heavy squats and deads fuckin' rule. I had a very minor back strain for about 2 weeks which prevented me from doing squats, deads, etc... but I finally got over it and hit (for me) heavy balls-out squats last wed. and 5 rep deads w/ 315 on Sunday. Since then I've gained 2-3 lbs. and my bench went up 10lbs. from a week ago. Until this week my progress was pretty slow. BTW- I'm a natty, 18, and have been doing this ultra serious since december.

I'd also like to add that my bench had been stuck at the same weight for about 3 weeks, so I'm sure it was the squats and/or deads that pushed it over.

Is it really that important to you ubermass? I'm not claiming to be some 'gear guru' or anything else.

I like sqauts and hack sqauts. Dead lifts I have never really done.

I got to 410 pounds on my squats yesterday for a rep of six. I get so excited about going to the gym to see if I can break my record from the week before. Though my leg extensions stayed at 200 this week. I had written the goal for 220 but I just could not get that bitch up!

I would have to agree but also throw in leg presses. Leg day has got to be one of the best days for me. Slapping on 4-5 plates on each side is enough to make anyone happy with there progress.

I agree. My bench has gone up nicely since I started doing heavy deads and squats. I did heavy squats last night until I felt like I was gonna lose my supper. I need to start bringing a bucket w/ me when i do squats. Here lately, I've been getting sick after my 3rd or 4th heavy set. People look at me like im some kind of obsessed, sick freak whenever i run to the bathroom and puke my guts after squats. Whats their problem? "You're not allowing enough rest time between your sets" is what they say... "oh yea, well fuck you old man" is my reply. =)

There's not many better feelings of accomplishment than going into the gym to rep out at 425 at a bodyweight of 170. I just hit 405 for 8 yesterday during the 2nd week of my cycle at 184. Hopefully I'll break the 5's for reps when I'm done. I agree....nothing puts more mass on you in a shorter amount of time than deads.
