Nope. Wieder is trying, but not quite yet. He acts like its close, but itll be an exhibition sport before it becomes an official sport most likely. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think it was wieder propaganda. The IOC is looking closely, but they still have a lot of convincing to do. I dont think the IOC is satisfied with "drug issues". Its funny, but the IFBB takes this big chest pounding stand on drugs, but only tests for diuretics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The information I have is that it was just passed by the IOC and will be included as an exhibition sport in Athens. Now, how they gonna deal with drugs then? They'll have the "naturals up there, and half the guys in the audience will be twice their size! lol IronMike ![]() ![]() ![]()

HA! Thats true IronMike! But, yeah, I figured it would need to be an exhibition sport first. Theyll probobly use the Team Universe types for it... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Good point Iron Mike. One concern that I have about this is that if they do make it an Olympic sport and try to make it clean, it might further marginalize pro-bodybuilding, as it will be completely obvious that there's a huge difference. Its not that I really care, but I find it annoying when people laugh at what I consider a lifestyle. Mostly, these people are just jealous, but I happen to actually be a fan of the pros and would someday like to check out The Olympia live. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i think it would be a damn shame if bodybuilding made it to the olympics before powerlifting ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The IOC as of last year, did recognize bodybuilding as an official sport. SO YES IT IS AN OFFICIAL SPORT, and is recognized by the IOC as one. They will hold exhibitions in 2002. As far as the drug issues are concerned....they will have to meet the same B.S. drugs test that the IOC holds as their guide lines. DRUG TESTING OR NO DRUG TESTING, there will still be use. GH for one.....but oh yes bros and broettes....it does look like it will be an Olympic Sport. BELIEVE IT OR NOT. What is not determined is how they will judge the contests....there has been some reporting that it will be done by body type. Ectos vs Ectos, Mesos, vs. Mesos, Endos vs. Endos.....it does not look like it will be done by weight. Only time will tell..... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I can tell you, the drug policies of the IOC are ridiculous. In Atlanta, 12 people (who medaled!) failed the doping tests, but NO MEDALS WERE RETURNED! If they're not having teeth in the policy, why have it? Nevertheless, while I think bodybuilding is great, I don't think it should be an olympic sport. Why, you ask? Because I don't think we should have a sport where a 3rd party (judge) decides who wins. I think that it should be clear cut. There should be some way to quantify results, and the best wins. In powerlifting, it's easy. He who lifts the most wins. In track, he who runs the fastest wins. No judging the competitors performance and deciding who's the best after the fact. Just my .02... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yeah, really iceman. Even the IFBB rules are half assed and inconsistant. 5 guys can go to 2 contests, all in the exact same shape for both shows, and have both shows placings be different. THeres way to much room for personal opinions. It need better guidlines to be considered anything other than a near-joke. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

hey iceman, gymnastics and figure skating are based on judges. although they do have to perform compulsory moves which they compare the competitors. they can apply this to bb by requiring competitors to perform cumpulsary poses which to compare them. and dirk diggler powerlifting has been an olympic sport for some time now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

jorje, I understand this. I don't think that those should be 'sports' either. Don't get me wrong, what they do (especially the gymnasts) is incredible. However, like Monster said, you can show the same performance to 2 different sets of judges and have different placings... How'd you like to run a race and be the fastest, but not win? Now imagine what happens if it's for a gold medal, and you've been working your whole life for this moment... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
