Just curious if anyone has gone through what im going through. I havent trained in over 2 1/2 weeks, havent eaten shit, and im not on right now. This is due to a recent move and new job. I have lost 10 lbs and look like im getting fatter than normal. In a week or two I will get back to the gym. My question is, how bad are these unplanned breaks? Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks. And if any of you are wondering why I havent been on the board in a long time its b/c of

Sure. I've been laid up for the last month with an injury. I'm just getting back into the gym now. I think a break every now and then can be helpful both physically and mentally.

Besides the fact that Chris Cormier recommends a 4 week break every now and then, I think it improves gains. You have what is called "muscle memory". This means whatever little muscle (if any) is lost durying the break will grow back with improved quality. It is good to take a break and relax. Just like a having a cheat day with your diet is good. Don't let your body become accustomed to whatever you do! ------------------

Had to stop for three years, while i had a full shoulder reconstruction and subsequent rehabilitation. Took me that long to be able to get back into it seriously. I waited for 1.5 year to get the surgeon i wanted, he's the best in canada, and then the rehab afterwards. Not fun at all, watching yourself waste away into nothing.

an occasional break from your training can be good for you. I have been back in the gym for 3weeks now after a 4 week break on vacation i have reagined all the muscle i thought i had lost on holiday and feel like i can take on the world !!!!!!!!

i took 3 weeks off after my last cycle for vaction and my muscles seemed to have gotten quite a bit bigger, so now after every cycle im goin to take a few weeks off to let my body repair because i think the reason they grew more after i stopped liftin was because of my workout methods are pretty intense and i only have 1 day of rest for that muscle group before i hit it again. mike

dont worry about it bro. i read that many pro bb will take up to a month off without lifting, eating right, and juicing. i have lifted serious for 3 years now. and hit a plato where i could not gain weight nor get any stronger. (this is before i was juicing)so i took 3 weeks off. didnt lift, or eat right. ate like a pig. i did continue my martial arts. but oh man, when i went back to the gym i felt small, but within weeks i grew like a weed. i swear it was like i was juicing, and i beat my previous plato. to this day once a year ill take a good 3-4 weeks off in many ways. wont do shit but eat, fuck, sleep, and study. still works. dont worry bro. its all good. swol |
