it depends on what you are traing to du if bulking both, since you burn calories ewen if you sleep, plus during rem you release growth hormone from your pituary glands. so sleep is also a wery benefitial factor for growth

High blood glucose levels tend to suppress GH release during sleep. You should try to go to bed with low blood glucose levels, so protein is the better choice. The Doctor

Carbs are best taken post-workout to re-plenish glycogen stores that have been depleted.Your body is in a state of fasting overnight while sleeping so it would be a wise idea to have protein as your last meal to maintain a positive nitrogen balance over night.Carbs will have very little effect on this.

protein is definitely better.. Try a slow-absorbing kind like soy mixed with whey to extend the effectiveness of your last dose of protein before bed. john

thank you all for your help but i read that if you consume protein before bed, after it is burned, you r body searches for alternative protein to be used for energy instead of fat, and therefore burning a bit of muscle. and if ingested carbs it tends to search for fat for burning; i don tknoe if this is valid but i makes sence.i guess the best is to consume a bit of both, since im trying to pack on the muscle. anyways thank you i really appreciate your help; i can always count on the A board

to answer your question it is protein since your energy needs are not hat great when sleeping unless you got few bisexual females sleeping in the same bed, mostly breakfest and after trainning should be the time when you consume the most carbs, but then again it is a trial and error, you need to find out what works best for you, for me when bulking i still eat carbs ewen before bed time, but i get up at 4 am to go train |
