anyone ever used these tanning pills, how good do they work, does it make a big difference. about how much can i expect to pay in mexico?     | ||

man, i tried my hardest to get trisoralen in mexico and nobody had it. it wasn't even listed in their books. i asked for it by every name i could possibly think of, telling them the active ingredient (trioxsalen), but nothing. then somebody on this board said that the name for it in mexico was meladinina and i found some. it's not the same as trisoralen and i couldn't find any info on it, but i took it for a few days and it did make me tan much faster and deeper. i didn't take it continually, though, but i suppose that if you do, you can get pretty dark. brand name meladinina - then it says metoxaleno (ammoidin). it's made by chinoin labs. | ||

meladinina (aka methoxsalen) is the original "tanning" pill, it was actually developed for the treatment of vitiligo- a disease that effects pigmentation. Trioxsalen is merely a later version of the drug which is less likely to cause hardening of the cornea, which can be bad for vision- too say the least. When taking either of these compund it is advisable to wear UV protection contact lenses or wraparound sun glasses whenever exposed to sun/ultraviolet light. PEACE ------------------ | ||

I tried trioxsalen. Had 30 tabs, but only took them when I tanned. Sometimes this was every other day, and sometimes every two or three days. I got darker and my tolerance to the UV increased, but I'm pretty light skinned, so I still didn't get as dark as some of my friends did just by swimming. I'd say it worked for me, but not great.
