I 'd like to know your results and if it is a cutting diet only or you can even bulk while on it. Thanks

First, I have been on many, they work great. No, you cannot bulk on a keto diet. There is just no energy for your body to repair itself. Besides with almost no carbs all your needed calories come from protein and fat. Being 400-600 gms the most anyone can stand in 24 hours, that means the bulk of your calories comes from fat. So, that is what we would put on. chesty ------------------

I have used it 2-3times prep'n for a contest but I don't think its worth the loss of strength and energy. It makes me so lethargic that I can hardly function and boy am I a fuck'n grump!

I personally have not had a great deal of experience with keto diets, but I have talked to others who have, and many have been able to put on lean mass with a keto diet. The main factor is calories, just like on a regular diet.

I have used it several times in the past ... the last time it was for a contest and I actually lost 20-25lbs of blubber in 7 weeks... I was extremist though, I would sometimes go 2 weeks without carbs (14 days instead of 5) followed by a giant carb-up. I also trained two times a day for these 2 months and actually gained a little muscle ... So it is possible to train hard and gain muscle on a keto diet. It *is* primarily a fat loss/minimal muscle loss diet and work great as such. However I did feel slugish and without much energy from times to times and I found that it's much harder to gain good muscle size on this diet, even if you are ingesting a lot of calories (maybe due to the lack of insulin release or lack of glycogen resynthesis?). Bottom line: great diet for a contest, not so great for getting huge.

I agree with just about every post...I basically used a 6-low, 1-high for my last show, entered at 150 pounds, 3% bodyfat, and saw veins I'd never seen before...and I'm natural, too, just took some potent thermogenics (Adrenaline by Biosculpt and Thyrolean by Pro-Lab), and went in very content. But again, you've got to train hard and DO THAT CARDIO, to burn that fat off, too!! Good luck, let us know how it goes, I think it would be very difficult to really bulk up on it, though!! ------------------

I suppose, if you have low bodyfat, you could put on lean muscle. How much would be dependent on the individual. For me the last time I dieted, I maintained more lean muscle than in the past. Oh, well, that is bodybuilding is as much an art as it is a science. chesty ------------------

so bros regular keto is 5 days off carbs and 1 on right? And how do you divide the cals between fat and proteins, 50%-50% or else?

Ive done the modified ketogenic diet posted on the elite website along with some t3 and clen, lost 15lbs in 3 weeks. The diet is good for fat loss but I wouldnt use it to bulk up so to speak. You need carbs to bulk, for energy and to fill out your muscles to their limits.

I tried it for 4 days but was so sluggish i couldn't work or think. Yeacch! I tend to be quite lean just by doing some cardio a couple of days a week and restricting carbs in the evening so i don't think i'll try it again unless i end up in a contest or somethin'

Let's put it this way: Go on the Atkins diet. After 2 weeks all the bad effects go away. A lot of people have more energy than before. btw Mark McGwire is on the Atkins diet.

quote: i've never used any ketogenic diet for mass. i tried the bodyopus diet for the shows i did in 1999. i read and studied the bodyopus book, the atkins diet book, and several sources on the web, including a boatload of info by lyle mcdonald. needless to say, i was ready to use this diet, as i obtained more than adequate info on the subject. it turned out to be my worst showing so far, except for my 1st show. went back to conventional dieting this year, and BAMMM! i was the best i have ever looked...the conventional diet is the way to go for me, but others like the ketogenic diet...i guess it's all a matter of personal preferences ------------------
