Guys...
What has changed? Why has our "sport" become a chemistry battle over the last few years?
I am in the midst of setting up a Q and a type consultancy online....and all I ever get in my mail are drug Questions. I come here and all I see are drug questions. I meet a guy in the gym and the first thing he wants to know is "what did you take to get so big?"
I just thought that it would do us all a bit of good to remember that the first Mr O, won by Larry Scott in '65, was won on 10mg of Dianabol / day and a shit load of hard work.
I know "genetics"...but really, do people actually need to take the amounts and varietys of drugs that they do today? Or are we just disappearing up our own arses in a cloud of pins, redijects and pills. I spoke today with a National level high jumper in the gym. He was a good guy, doing snatches with good form and reasonable weight, looking to add explosion to his jumps. Until i told this guy I was a powerlifter and not a BBer, he had zero respect for me, and i can see why. All over the gym were a bunch of BBers, some clean, some not, all in fancy gear, all posing to themselves and exagerating every single movement in order to tense everything up, all sitting down on machine, none in a sweat, non making any real effort, all of them wasting their time. And here was our high jumper, all 70kg of him, working his ass of, in a pool of his own sweat, for the sake of a viable, realiseable goal, but getting no respect for it. People pushed past him, refused to move equipment to give him the space to snath in etc etc etc, and i se this crap every single day. Until BBers begin to act like atheletes / sportsmen there will be no respect for them from the true athletic community. Until BBing cleans house and tests its pros, there will no respect from the athletic community. Until we turn the clock right back to the 40's and 50's we will continue to be the laughing stock of the rest of the sporting world. I am glad to call myself a powerlifter, and today, i would have been ashamed to have to call myself a BBer.
I hope you can see my point, and that no one gets overly offended or takes it personally, its just that the "sport" has to change, and soon, or it will become an even worse joke than it already is. Cheers, G.

You think thats bad, I get looked at funny just because I set aside a mat for deadlifting. No one else deadlifts there. I hear constant wispers and such, especialy when the squat shoes go on. I dont care, I know I will get strong and they wont!!!
You are a wise man G, keep spreading your ideals. Maybe after work I'll get around to posting an amaging piece by Preist that I know will be apretiated.

I agree. I almost got flamed on another board for saying somewhat not-nice things about Ronnie Coleman and the other 700lb 2% bodyfat "pros" in the BB world. I was told that I should "respect" the "hard work" and "dedication" it takes to be a pro. I think that the people who deserve the respect are the "amateurs" in every school of weightlifting who truly do have to work hard because they don't have a $100k stash of gear in their closet along with an endless supply of GH. I'd give a round of applause to even the skinny geeky guy in the corner doing 5lb dumbbell curls who hasn't gained a pound in years but is STILL AT IT before I'd give a round of applause to Ronnie Coleman after winning a posedown against the second "best" pro.

wait a minute u mean to tell me that powerlifters and that high jumper or olympic athletes arn't using gear come on g i thought u had more sense then that i remember my powerlifting days when i would see guys get punched or take a 2by4 and wack himself in the head (unconsious i might add) now don't get me wrong i have a lot of respect for them but hell most of the ones i know take 3-5 minute rest incase your wondering the guy was 3rd in his weight class in the world now personaly i didn't look at him and think damn he is not working hard he just didn't work all the time he put it all out each set i don't know what gym you go to but most bbs i know lift hard and heavy i do agree about the gear issue u don't need much to grow but to be competive as a pro yes this are these guys bread and butter i am sure u would pull out all stops to earn that promotion at work they maybe on a shit load of drugs and that includes powerlifters, strength athletes, olympics, basket ball, what ever but all these guys work there asses off if u don't believe that then take a shit load of gear and sit on your arse and see what happens so don't judge bbs because of a select few and if they are laughing stocks by other communites then they ought to take a good look into there own community the gear is there it is just better covered up people gear is not the answer to everything u still have to bust your ass no offense g i respect your views but if u think titus, priest,or ronnie got there by not sweating or haveing there diet and nutrition precised then my friend i would have to say u are wrong

Dude,
In the public eye, BBing is the only sport that is looked upon as being "all drugs".
I know there are drugs in a whole lot of other sports too my man, including PLing. I am not totally stoopid (at least i hope i am not) and I am not anti drug either. What is really irking me now though is that the whole focus of BBing is drugs. Look for yourself at the "Bodybuilding Forum" on this site. What percentage of the questions relate to drugs?
About 90% right? Why is that? Its because BBing has fallen in to the trap of chemical worship. What I would like to see is a return to the days of "physical culture", where a strong natural physique was seen as an extension of a healthy mind and body, and a more holistic approach to the body was taken.
As for the issue of drugs in other sports, yes they are their, sometimes obviously, sometimes not, but i have never had a conversation or even a query from anyone but BBers regarding drugs. All the other atheletes want to know how to improve their skill level, how to train for explosiveness or some such thing.....all the BBers want to know is what to stick in their ass.

This is a VERY interesting post. I would have to say that i agree with G-force, but muscleplay made some very valid points in that LONG sentence he wrote.. lol This is something i myself have been thinking a lot about lately as well. How many of you guys out there are on a cycle? I'm willing to bet like 70% of this board is..how many on the cylce are taking a multi vitamin? I bet less than 30% do.. How many make sure they get enough sleep every night, or train 100% every time at the gym? Im willing to bet we are ALL missing one of these key points on a regular basis.. now, when was the last time you missed a shot? I bet that is a VERY rare occurance. I am getting these assumptions due to MY daily routine. I seem to often forget the key small things but i NEVER forget my morning GH shot or my gear shots. I believe we are ALL forgetting the basics hoping that these drugs will carry us to a great body. PLEASE dont get me wrong, i am very sure the majority of us are trying our best, but we really do lose sight of the basics due to the other things we are giving a higher priority to. Its amazing when you step back and just look at the amount of daily tasks we put ourselves through in our journy to get a better body, its like a full time job. I know i myself am guilty of forgetting what got me to the point before gear..Just a thought, not exactly on topic but close

you guy's diserve a bump for this. The way I see it is; if you have somthing to strive for other then getting bigger, i.e. speed, quickness, power, somthing that will help you achieve somthing faster you are going to want it more(w/ or w/o drugs). My thoughts my be one sided cause im an athlete and all the bber's i know go half as intence as we do, so im sticking to my point.

Their are natural BB contest but they don't get the coverage the druged up ones do. The reason for this is people want to see the freakiest MOFO alive on stage. BB on the pro level is just as much about drugs as it is about lifting and nutrition. Most pros of today work just as hard at it as Larry Scott did. They are just bigger and more ripped then he could have ever been. The amount of gear you take does not make you a pro. Its the dedication in the gym and time you spend learning what is best for you when it comes to every aspect of BB which includes drugs.

got to agreee with Q!...drugs don't make a champion...everyone knows people who are on a lot and don't look that great...and the comment about the guy who hasn't gained a pound in years...well hate to break it to ya...hes got shit genetics...and no matter whether he took as much as coleman...he woudln't look all that great...though better...just cuz coleman is better...than the rest...that assumes he takes more than say guys like titus...and etc...i guess that is what he gets for being number one....JEALOUSY...also ...how would anyone know how much old timers took?...they lie too...

I think Q and G are both correct in certain ways. But, I think for this board at least, the reason why there isn't much training talked about here is because it has it's own forum. But I do agree that we need to spend more time worrying about our diet and training... more so than worrying about the latest drug. With that said, we can get decent training and diet info in the mags, but they don't cover too much drug info. So, I think the internet helps fill that void. And that's why there are so many drug questions... because we can't get them answered anywhere else but here.

I didn't come to this board for a long time because I didn't see things like this. It's nice to know that there's actually some great minds in here that are willing to speak up and make their mark, for whatever cause(powerlifting, BBing, stress relief). I've always said that you get out of it what you put into it, no matter what drugs you are on.

THIS IS MY FIRST POST REPLY. I AM ONE OF YOU
GUYS. I WORK OUT HARD AND TRY TO TAKE MY GIFTS AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. I DON'T BELIEVE
THAT WITHOUT HARD WORK, DESIRE, AND PASSION
FOR WHAT WE DO AND WHAT WE TRY TO ACCOMPLISH
IN THE GYM CAN BE APPRECIATED BY THE NORMS.
WE ARE IRON WARRIORS-IT TAKES HARD WORK.
DRUGS ALONE WILL NOT CREATE BODIES OF ART
WHICH IS WHAT WE STRIVE FOR. I COME TO THIS
SITE TO LEARN AND SEEK MEMBERS' HELP TO ADVISE ME OF DRUGS' ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES.
I'M GLAD I CAN TALK TO SOME MEMBERS TO FIND
OUT THINGS THAT HELP POINT ME IN THE RIGHT
DIRECTION.
I'M GLAD THAT I HAVE THIS SITE WHERE THERE
ARE GUYS HERE WHO ARE TRYING TO HELP ME ACHIEVE MY GOALS/DREAMS. MY DREAM IS TO GO
PRO AND MY GENETICS ALONE ARE NOT ENOUGH.
THANKS FOR LISTENING, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
BECAUSE WE NEED THIS BOARD. WE'RE HERE TO
HELP EACH OTHER!
THANKS--BIGMAN
