So long as George S. and several others are asking about email today .... Any hints on how to set up a completely anonymous email mechanism, if only a temporary (single use) one? Seems like one of the big problems with "going domestic" is the chance that a source's computer will be siezed, then your order gets traced back to you through your email. How do you work around that? Don't post anything that will give The Man any ideas, but, I dunno, maybe some general principles? Bjaarki ------------------ BECOME SOMEONE'S HERO!

I know operamail is located overseas, so the US government can't seize it.

Delt: Hushmail is overseas, too, I think. Ireland, I believe. Does that mean that, if a source's computer gets seized, and his email folders get inspected, and an order from a bro is discovered, that The Man can't trace the order back to that bro? Does the email "server" or whatever need to be inspected? Couldn't The Man, if he really wanted to (I'm not saying he would, mind you) hack backward to discover where the email originated, just using the source's hard drive and the saved email from the bro? I ask, because all this business about ip numbers and so forth is just mumbo jumbo to me, and I'd like to keep things completely clean, you know? Sorry for being stupid about this. Would like some info, though. Bjaarki

What if your source is busted and they trace an order or several back to you .....how can they prove you received it? or do they have physical evidence to prove it? If I were to use a source I would not keep anything at my home.....so if someone sold to me and got busted and traced it back to me and there is nothing at my place, do they really have a case....i know they can make you sweat .... And for the flamers I tried searching for this info and found nothing....

Hush does not log your IP address when you visit their site...or use the email. Elite fitness DOES log your IP address, which can basically tell which computer or internet access account you are using. This is why I would probably NOT use an email account through elitefitness.com if it were available. ------------------

Okay, aj, BigTruck, now we're getting somewhere. If I hear you right, using ziplip, I could email an order to a source, and it couldn;t get traced back to me. Is that right, BT? aj: Same deal with Hushmail? I think you and me went around and around a couple of days ago on another computer privacy issue. I don't think I ever got closure on what we were discussing, but I know that that's because you seem to really know your shit on this, and I'm like a big zero when it comes to computer and email stuff. Reason I posted this thread, I was thinking of going to like a cybercafe or something and creating a single use Hushmail account to order, but that just seems like such a hassle. Would like to avoid that if possible. So, you guys think my hushmail account, or maybe a ziplip account, would protect my identity from "prying eyes?" Bjaarki

With encrypted email, they would have to know your password to read it...Thing is, it could take several days to run a program that would crack your password. That's why you should always change your password at least once per month.

AJ, that's why I chose Hushmail. I really haven't had any problems with them as far as reliability is concerned. When I signed up I let Hushmail assign my userid, because it required no further information from me. And my passphrase is over 50 characters long, and incorporates ALT-key combinations. Somebody else can figure out the permutations of possible solutions to that. But I have a couple caveats: 1) I'm not all that sophisticated in security issues, and 2) my first cycle hasn't been delivered yet. So my experience doesn't count for all that much. I'd be interested in hearing any comments about potential holes in this setup. Bjaarki, your idea of the cybercafe and a completely anonymous account at Hush sounds reasonable, with the only weak link being physically getting the goods.

aj: Thanks a lot, bro, for taking the trouble. BTW, I wish you'd list an email address, man. You seem to know your way around computers, and I have some questions about this particular aspect of the whole puzzle that are just too lame to bore the other bros with. I'm afraid I'll antagonize you guys if I go through all my head scratching and golly-geeing in front of you all. aj, I'll respect your privacy if you drop me a line at my hushmail account. Otherwise, I know you're a privacy freak, so thanks anyway for posting to this thread. Your input has been valuable. Bjaarki

Starting Over: Yeah, I know, "getting the goods" is a whole other piece of the puzzle. Luckily, I'm in no hurry. Still letting my ambivalence about gear in general settle down, meanwhile doing my homework, and trying to clear all the stones from the path, in case I decide to walk it. Good to see you on the board, bro. There are a couple of us old guys on now. Bjaarki

Bjarrki -- Yeah, I'm thinking that since it shreds it after it's read -- there's no e-mail to trace back... If you want to go another route: http://www.anonymizer.com/splash.shtml?to= They used to allow web-based totally anonymous mails. It might be a member's only (pay) feature now, haven't been there for awhile.

Hushmail cannot be traced, especially if you are e-mailing another hushmail member. ------------------ UP-TO-DATE information on STEROIDS and PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS:

Big Truck: Many thanks, again, for your leads. This has been helpful. 300 Kleen: If Hushmail cannot be traced when both ends of the communication are through Hushmail, what about when only the sender is a Hushmail account? I want to send something to a guy with a Hotmail account, from my Hushmail account. Won't my Hushmail message stay on the hard drive of his computer, and couldn't that get traced back to me? I know that my received Hushmail messages don't seem to stay on my computer at all. I have to be connected to Hushmail to read them. My Netscape email, though, seems to go into a folder on my hard drive. That's why I don't know how any of this works, I've got these two different models. Again, I'm really sorry, bros, to obsess about this. Starting Over: Sorry, bro, but I think just about anybody on this board over, say, 30, is an "old guy." I know you aren't planning to "go gently into that good night," but I meant no offense. Bjaarki

If both ends aren't hushmail...It's no better than using plain old hotmail. Bjaarki.. I'm not that big of a privacy freak, I'm just paranoid about doing anything that is illegal... I get my gear locally, so as not to leave any "paper trail"...But, I spend a lot more money then I would through a mail order source for that little bit of confidence...I'll email you as soon as I get a chance.

Hushmail wont encrypt unless your using two hushamil accounts, but I dont *think* they send the IP information so technically even if its not encrypted its safer than all the other non encrypted mail. Slopain

aj: Thanks, man, I'll look forward to hearing from you. I was just over at the ziplip.com site. (I also looked at Big Truck's anonymizer.com site. It's now pay for play, but worth a look). Anyway, I got a ziplip account. It looks like you can send a "secured" email through ziplip that "expires" after a period of time. The recipient also needs a password to open the message. That seems more secure than Hushmail. I sent a secured message to my regular university email, and found that the message from ziplip still contained my ziplip account. I'm gonna wait for the 24 hours and see if it "shreds," as advertised. Is there anyway the feds could track me down through the account number left on the message that came in from ziplip to the receiving account? (Jeez, listen to me! I sound like James Bond or something!). I tell ya, bros, this mail order shit just really spooks me. Too bad I'm not talking about grass or something. If that were the case, I'd just go score, smoke, and not give the whole thing another thought. Talking gear, though, and I think the whole DEA is out to nail my ass! WTF! No shit Bjaarki, no one gives a fuck if you get a little weed, but get some STEROIDS and the feds think you're automatically chaining up pre-teens and putting a needle in their asses. FUCK IT ------------------
