I don't know how to express my feeling since English is not my 1st language, but I will try my best. "Katsumi Kitamura" was the most respected Japanese Bodybuilder. But he died from heart failure on August 4, 2000. He was preparing for the NPC's TOC in this month in CA. Actually he was placed 3rd at heavy class last year. He died due to severe dyhydration and body ion imbalance from his extreme diet. These condition lead to his heart stop beating. He was well known for his strong mental toughness. This time, his mental toughness exceeded his physical limitation. When he died, he was 5'8", 240lbs with 5%bf. When I heard this news, I was really shocked. I learned a lot from him about everything related bodybuilding and even his phylosophy about life. Please accept my condolences on his death.

It's always a shock to hear something like this... and of course the media, the uninformed, and the unmotivated will say it was directly due to AS, which we know it is not. I would like to know how extreme this diet of his was, and what AS and other other drugs he was using at the time. | ||

He was following zero carb diet. I guess he was doing literally zero carb because of his personality. It is very dangerous in the long run. But I believe he knew what he was doing because he was one of the smart guy. He went to Tokyo univ. majoring science and then he went to medical school. And I am not sure which As he was taking, but I heard he prefered teststerone and insulin. ------------------ | ||

Sorry to hear about the loss bro. But i wish that these pro bodybuilders and even some non pro would wise up and not put their body through these unbelievable diets and diuretics to win a title....please for God's Sake, if you are dead..there will be no more shows for you...... enough with the rant Sorry brother.still sadden about the loss of a fellow iron brother, just wished he hadn't gone too far with that diet..so much more we could've learned from this man.....though he paid a heavy price for one final lesson for us all.............. ------------------ | ||

He didn't die from the diet, but from the restriction of fluids. Zero carb diets have been around for nearly a century, and only those who restrict fluid intake get complications of electrolyte imbalances. Diuretics most assuredly comlicated the matters, remember Momo Beniziza (sp?)? | ||

WoW!!! That is one ripped Asian. I am Asian also. And any Asian will tell you how hard it is to get large. And to get freaky large like this dude take many long hours in the gym and a strict diet. He will be missed. Are there any ripped Asians out there?? What kind of workouts do you do?? What kind of gear?? Diet?? Being an ectomorph sucks but, at least I could eat almost anything and not get fat. | ||
