given the fact that the pro bodybuilders of today are using a wider variety of drugs and at much higher dosages, are the current guys much stronger than the top guys from the 60's 70's and 80's? i have seen a few top names train and i was taken aback by the fact that they dont train as hard or as heavy as i would have expected. has anybody seen what kind of iron some of the current guys can move? maybe a dumb questions, but curious nonetheless ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i have seen erik fromm train, who is a nationally ranked amatuer bodybuilder, in the off season he is about 300 at 5'10''. i have seen him military press 315 for 20 reps and do the same with 150 lb dumbbells. but then i have also been told that paul dillet doesnt lift any more than i do. i am only 210. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

bodybuilding is not strength training, other wise the strongest man in the world would also have the worlds best physique. why lift more weight if all u need is to get a nice hard muscular body. it doesnt make sence, sure ur muscles will get bigger but not nicer, arnold didnt have the biggest body but he did have the nicest. strength i see it as a side-effect of a nice body. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The 2 styles of training are very different , why would body builders do strength specific training because it is not the ideal way to train for physique contests, and vive versa for strongmen 8 reps a set is not ideal for max strength events like strongman and powerlifting . ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

BodyBuilders know more about BB then they ever did it does not take heavy weights to build quality muscle. look at powerlifter's some of those guys look like shit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

By not using weights heavier than necessary serious joint, muscle and skeletal injuries are more easily avoided. However, strong is nice. Of course, so is having a relatively pain and injury free body. I guess it's a personal choice. To each his own. and also when using real heawy weights it is almost imposible to isolate muscle groups, you must know your limits of actualy beneficialy working out or just shoving off ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
