Hey has anyone seen any reports on the use of Steroids for rehab? Even articles or interviews? Things such as chronic leg problems or knees? Has anyone seen any research recently on anabolic steroids? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i don't think anybody is doing any research. the whole medical has their mind made up. but look at my post and you can find anecdotal evidence. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had elbow surgery last Nov. They scraped my tendon with a scalple to remove scar tissue and drilled holes in the bone to promote bleeding. I was told the tendon would heel faster due to the increase in blood flow. More nutrients and such. A tendon is no more than white muscle fibre instead of red fibre, but a muscle none the less. So, if steroids increase protein synthesis, prevents catabolism, and so forth, then I say that steroid therapy will aid in recovery by allowing the muscle to heal quicker and more efficiently. I was on a cycle when I had surgery and started another one shortly after with rehab in mind. I believe it worked! chesty ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bros, there's all kinds of literature on the legitimate medical uses of steroids. Who the fuck do you think developed these substances, anyway? Gearheads? The first steroids were developed for military purposes, to promote the healing of wounds and get debilitated troops back on their feet. They were used for years to prevent "wasting" due to infections and other causes, long before the BB community got wise to them. That's why I asked: What exactly do you want to know. You can't get an intelligent answer until you ask an intelligent question. Wanna find out yourself, log on to PubMed, Medline or some other source and do a search. Hey, he did ask a question. He wanted to know if any research had been done and if anybody could point it out to him. To my knowledge most doctors never even bring the subject up. And if it was so great, then why not prescribe it for post surgery. I have had two surgeries and my ex has had one, never once was that an option. chesty ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

yes good point on that last post....I am just looking for any information to support a reason to use steriods for rehab or bad knees. I know there has to be some information somewhere but its hard to find. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Molson: Sorry, man, but I'm just not getting it! WTF is "rehab," in your mind? What are "bad knees?" Do you have a cart problem, a muscle tear, a bone spur, what? Your question just isn't clear enough. BTW, do you know how to do a PubMed search? Email me offline so we don't bore the bros with this anymore. (Jeez!) Hey man I think your question is a very good one. I wish someone knew more or had experience like chesty's. I'm rehabing an ACL reconstruction I got as a result of Baseball. I'm going to start a cycle in September and want to do some light training this time. I will take awhile to get it back but hopefully this will help. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I rehab athletes on a regular basis that ask they same question. I think you know one of my prior patients.....He just got into a little trouble when tested on the MIAMI DOLPHINS. Ole J.J. Johnson was a RB at a small Junior college (east miss. community college) where I was a trainer there for a few years. He was a great friend and I had to take some risky rehab ventures with him to keep him on the field. Anyway, Deca is your number one choice because of its effects on strengthing connective tissue. Of the 6 guys(that i can remember) I have done rehab on while geared, the best results seemed to come with the deca. 6-10wks @ 3-400mg/wk The stronger gear seemed to make the athletes too strong and aggressive too fast. Test made the guys way to strong for their acl surgeries and they usually pushed themselves way to hard. The end result was average time of recovery 12 weeks because of small set backs (increased swelling etc. due to pushing their new acl to far before it had regained blood supply and strengthened. They were not allowed back into contact sports for another 4weeks either. Of the two guys I have had on the deca prior to surgery, they both were back on the field within 12weeks. It did improve muscle response and seemed to keep swelling down to a min. even with exercise. I support deca in most causes prior to surgery. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
