I am sure that my answers are in here somewhere - and I apologize to all of you if I am making you be repetitious..... I am 38 220# 6' last time body fat was checked 26% I work out daily at the gym with a combination of treadmill daily and M W F weights along with the aerobics. I have been doing this for a little over two years and have seen tremendous gains- I was a couch potato who got tired of being fat and flabby. Over this time I have lost over 70 pounds of fat and gained over 20 in muscle mass last time I had it checked. My problem is that I just cant seem to get over this hump- loose the last of the belly and gain some more muscle- I guess it is getting cut? or whatever. I obviously don't know a lot about this stuff but I really want to learn- I like the new me so much and want to get even better- hey you young guys get with it and stick with it you will be glad you did- anyway- I am not looking for shortcuts but help getting past this standstill- haven't done supplements but willing to try them if the payoff is good and side effects are livable.

Your situation is analagous to the draining of a pond. The outer edges are removed rather quickly, what remains is that last stubborn portion right in the middle. We have all hit that point. It is your body telling you that it has become acustomed to your entire routine. You have reached a plateau that can be broken. The moderated use of testosterone would indeed propel you past your plateau. Or you can start from scratch and coordinate a plan of attack which completely changes your present training regimine. It can be as simple as a time change, exercise, or a combination of both. ------------------

VLH I'd start by looking at your diet. Do you eat clean (no sugar, low carbs, high protein)? Learning about nutrition helped me out a lot! Next I'd look at your cardio. Change it up. Try doing sprints or my personal favorite push a car around. Do a search on ECA stack. Tons of info and a good start to get the ball rolling with supplements. It's OTC and effective! You'll find that the slightest change in your diet and cardio will help a lot!! Good luck. Later, Green Feel free to drop me an emial if you have any questions.

When I started the program I started a fairly good diet or eating plan- I eat a blanced diet at each meal that includes small portions of all food groups- It is the only plan I have seen that works and can be continued for long periods of time- I normally stay with it so I don't think the eating is the problem- I think I just need a push. I have changed gyms about 2 months ago and I do alternate and use the EFX machine and varying intesity on the treadmill useing different speeds and inclines during my workout. I haven't tried pushing the car but I don't think I am ready for that I am one of those people in the big SUV's..... Thanks for you help guys bodybuilders are a great bunch of people who seem to enjoy helping others out.

Hey bro try eating carbs earlier in the day and cut them for the PM. Try not to eat meals over 300-400 calories. I know it's not a lot but just eat more often. Helps a lot with me. You never feel hungry and your body burns that pretty easily. Good luck, Green

26 % bodyfat, that's is very much. You need at least to drop 30 pounds to get that right. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

VLH: My advice: Cut back on the cardio, up the weights. Every gym in the world is full of middleaged people treadmilling and stairstepping like crazy, yet their body composition doesn't change a bit, year to year. Cardio is for cardiovascular health. It doesn't affect body composition much. The whole aerobics thing is just a holdover from the '80's, before we knew much about altering body composition. For that, you need serious weight training. Then you need a good nutrition plan. The bros are giving you good advice, but I would add the point of cutting way back on carbs, and upping the protein, and even the fats. If you lift weights like crazy, and eat a lot of protein and some fat, very little carbs, you're gonna lose body fat, generate new muscle tissue, and break out of your plateau. When you hit the next plateau (and you will), check into supplements. Right now, creatine, ECA and glutamine would be good. Save the other stuff for later, after you really know your way around a weight room. Main thing, though, is cutting way, way back on the cardio, and putting that time into lifting instead. I'd also be glad to consult, if you want to email me offline. I'm older than you, and have been there, done that. Bjaarki ------------------ BECOME SOMEONE'S HERO! |
