1-1.5 Grams per pound of bodyweight should be sufficient for growth.

As far as calories go, I would try to eat enough to allow yourself to gain ~3 lbs per week during a bulking cycle like that. Any more than 3 lbs is likely pure fat. Don't worry about the first two weeks because you are going to likely put on 10-15lbs of water weight. At week 3 is when you should be able to accurately gauge your progress. At 162 lbs, I would say to start at 3000-3500 calories (quality calories) and then adjust up or down from there. 5000 calorie/day diets are for guys who weigh over 220.

I'd say atleast 2.0-3.0g per pound of weight.

You really should know your BMR bro. Go 500-700cal. above that and as far as protein goes..Im a bit of a stickler there..but I say get as much as you can..just keep your fiber intake around the 30g a day mark, or you will not be a pleasant bro to be around...at least to others nasal passages..heh..heh.. Try putting metamucil into your protein shakes, but build up slowly..or the ceramic princess will become your new throne. It will allow for slower digestion of the protein as well..thus elminating some gas. later, ------------------

Find out your AMR and then add calories to that. If you are really concerned about fat then start out at about 500calories above your AMR and you can add more as you see fit. I agree that 1-1.5g per pound of bodyweight is enough protein. I find it difficult to eat 2g per lb and I haven't seen a big improvemnet over 1-1.5g per lb. Later,

The only way that Ive found to accurately measure out your personal BMR is to eat everything you would in a regular 2 weeks, not bulking..not cutting, just eat normal and healthy. Log it all down..and if you maintain about the same body weight after 14 days then you can pretty much bet youve found it. Then you just go from there. later, ------------------
