I use to do them all the time until I found that they don't help a lot unless your BF is pretty low. I do them on occasion but spend more time on other lifts. LAter, Green ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have a naturally big chest but didn't really like the shape until I incorporated cable crossovers...Almost immediately people started complimenting me on my upper and even outer chest development...All I can say is that they definately work for me. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I love em. I do them every time I work out my chest. My body is bent 90 degrees and arms parallel to the floor. I get an awsome pump afterwards. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I do them every workout, angle varying every other workout...But, always with a slight bend in the elbows. ![]() ![]() ![]()

aj's right. Slight bend in your arms. Pretend you're trying to put a hug on the BIGGEST babe you'll ever meet. Really try to enclose a LOT of space with your arms, then bring your hands across way, way in front of you. The more bend, the more you're working your tri's. Also, vary the angle a lot. I go along with the bros. I love em. Do them both ways, with your knuckles touching and with your thumbs touching. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

cable cross overs are a staple in my chest routine..... i use heavy wieght with slow strict form .... and pausing at the crossover point and squeezing the pecs.... for about 10 reps..... it add that shape u cant get from anything else ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

i hate crossovers.... by the way....the shape of your chest is determined by GENETICS, it doesn't matter what exercises you do, you cannot change the basic shape of any of your muscles...only make them grow ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I agree with the others...I love cable cross-overs. In my opinion, sticking your chest out during the movement is the most important aspect of it. Doing that really isolates the pectoral muscles. A good hold and squeeze at the top is key too. But, I see way to many guys all hunched over looking like they've got a big hump in their back's, trying to push the cable down. That shits all wrong, you'll never get anything out of them doing it that way...except maybe a nice big hump in your back! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Pharm animal...looks like your the only smart one. Cable Cross - Overs are junk, if your not preparing for a contest there is no reason to do them. I'm an old school HIT'er I believe in the basics, I have said it before and I will say it again, when you Deadlift 500 Squat 400 and Bench 300 then you can start in on the isolation movements..until then..please drop those toner exercises. i agree with pharm, x-overs are good for a pump and they make you look cool in the gym but do little to build size. i do however think they are a good isolation movement but you still have to have the size first. >>>>BURN<<<< ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

IMO, Pharm Animal and Natural Mike have taken a kneejerk reaction to this discussion of crossovers. There's nothing inherently superior in the bench press, compared to flys or cable work, as a way to build mass in the chest. The intent of each lift is to work the pectoral muscle by moving your upper arm from a lateral (to the side) to a ventral (directly in front of you) position, and if you find you do that with flys or crossovers, hey, I won't get in your way. In fact, some studies show better involvement of the pec when the lift is a fly or a crossover, than when the lift is press. I think, BTW, there's a lot of bullshit out there about bench presses. They're referred to as one of the "Big 3 Compound Lifts" (they're not compound at all, in the same way as deads and squats are compound), and are viewed, like deads and squats (justifiably) are, as being necessary to build mass. A lot of guys concentrate WAY too much on benching, IMO. However, with respect to the concept of "full disclosure," I have to tell you bros that I have an axe to grind here. Because of some old shoulder injuries, I can't bench for shit. For some reason, I can military press almost as much as I can bench. So, for my own twisted reasons, I'm no fan of benching. That said, though, I think benching is overrated, and if you're putting a guy down because he uses flys or cable work instead of bench, you're wrong. I do them too...one of my favs...What i try to remember while I am doing them, is to position your arms like you're giving hugs! All I think is hugs hugs hugs to keep my form proper...and I look in the mirror, to ensure that it is! ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Try putting a bench under the cables and do them with the bottom grips instead of top laying down. Kinda like flys. Works much better in my opinion than normal crossovers cause you can concentrate more on the exercise than on your stance. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() |
