a buddy of mine has been using the same over seas source for a little over a year. every single time the gear was always left in his box. but two days ago his gear came with a signature required. he had sent about $900 for the gear.

he asked me if he should go in to sign for it. i told him "HELL NO"

well after thinking about how much $ he could be losing out on he decided to go in and sign for the gear. and guess what happend?

NOTHING! he singed his name and went home. when he got home he opened the box to find it full of paper and card board. but absolutly no gear. i asked if he thought it had been opened at the post office but he said he was positive it hadn't. (he'll be looking for some huge PO worker just incase)

so this is my question. is this a new scam? will a source send you an empty box with a signature required playing the odds that you won't go in and sign for it? has anyone heard of this?

if this IS a new scam, here's your heads up.

That's a pretty good scam. I will say that there are sources that I know that if you elect not to sign, they will compensate you in some way when the gear is returned to them.

A box that contains no gear is either (1) a scam or (2) an indication of utter, fundamental incompetence. You never know; maybe the dude was on crack when he was packing the box.

I don't think this would be a sign of any new mail order scam. Scams are are a tragic part of this business, unfortunately. It's surely an old scam; one I hope not recently revived.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that in the title of this thread you addressed the scam factor -- and separated it from this freaking signature issue which has been discussed to death.

i agree, post like this suck. but i doubt i'm giving any scammers an idea they haven't already had. one of the posts above said that this is an old scam anyway. but it's a new one to me so i'm sure there are some newbies out there that don't know this one either.

knowlege is power. if all the bro's know the tricks, we will be able to spot the scammers sooner and expose them.

one thing you might be able to do is ask the post office if it was sent with a signature required. if it has, you know your source did that for a reason. a good source will NEVER send it with a signature required.

i'll wait until my buddy has talked to his source. just incase this is a fuck up on the sources part, i don't want to throw his name around just yet. or maybe he'll own up to the gear, who knows?

i don't use this source, as a matter of fact i've just started trying out a new one. if things fall through for my buddy then i'll post the sources name all over the place.

That's exactly right, XXXL, check the box at the post office to see if the sig. required is marked. No source does this, so something is wrong if marked. Refuse the package and contact the source. Make sure that it is clear before ordering what happens in the way of compensation if an order is seized or otherwise lost. Like animal b said, if seized, you will know it, and this isn't the way it is done. Sounds like another scam or a fuckup.

I think it's just find to post this type of info. The more people who know that this type of situation the better. Lets face facts, any source who can't figure out how to mail a package without a sig is not worth his/her weight in salt.

Everyone one of us must send funds without a sig, right? So what is so fricking hard about that. $900 is a healthy sum, and a source who would fuck around like this should be dropped. He/she had to put some time and effort in the packaging, taping, and mailing the box, not to mention filling out the forms. So your trying to tell me he/she didn't even notice the box was empty? If they are that dumb, then do you really want them sending you schedule three drugs through the mail???? Do your really need this type of individual having you BALLS (or boobs as the case may be) in his/her hands?!?!?!?

Intentional scam or not. It don't add up in my book!

And just in case he does happen to get his stuff (and I hope he does) I would love to hear an explanation of why an empty box was shipped with a sig REQUIRED!

Dear WarLobo:

While I agree wholeheartedly with the bulk of your post, I respectfully and strongly disagree with your statement "any source who can't figure out how to mail a package without a sig is not worth his/her weight in salt."

Why? For reasons I explained in a previous post, which I bumped to the top for your reading pleasure.

What I have described, simply, has been a long understood but seldom talked about fact of international mail order. Domestic sources will love this, of course. God bless them.

Anabolic19: The GOOD thing about posts like these is that they let us know what to look out for. I don't think we are giving them any ideas here. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that if someone sends you money for gear and you are a source that you can just send them an empty box or a fake customs letter.

Peace...Mav

Dexter is right. Sometimes the post office will attach an article number to the package even if it originally didn't require a signature. Point being, it's not the source that is balled up it's the post office!!

No prob Dex, I'll concede the point on the sig and what some govs might do. Very good post I might add. But, would they not do this on a consistent basis? And if you had been ordering from your source, wouldn't this come up a time or two? Would not the source be AWARE that his own Gov. would do this and INFORM his clients of this situation? Still to many loop holes for my taste. And FYI, I have signed for a package, didnt like it to much, but your right about the lotto thing... Hehehe, now if I could only win that damn thing! But then with my luck would, Id get busted the next day with a few sust amps

it sucks to get beat especially for $900. i think in the future you should tell your friend to make several smaller orders instead on a jumbo like that. $100 or even $200 is easier to swollow. i'd be pissed too, but you have to use common sense when dealing with strangers, foreign countries and large sums of money.

Sounds like a pretty good scam. Though, if someone was planning on doing that scam.. and I got a package I had to sign for, I wouldn't order from that source again.
