I do not really ever do neck exercises, although my dumb ass probably should. What would be a good way to get your neck really thick? Let me know bros. Nick

Heacy shrugs, the neck machine if you've got one, deadlifts, power-cleans (I actually prefer hang-cleans, which is starting at hip level...) and you could buy a neck harness that you strap weights to, but I haven't ever tried one. Good luck!! ------------------

I dunno aboiut shrugs. Their effect on the neck is a bit indirect. My traps will get sore as hell after some heavy shrugs, but my neck? Nada! What the hell is this "neck machine" you guys are talking about? Never seen one. I hope this thread gets bumped some more, as I was thinking of posting it myself just yesterday when I was shrugging. My workout partner lays on a flat bench with his head hanging off the end. Holds a 10lb plate against his forehead and does 'neck curls'. Works well for him, he's got no neck now. I don't bother. Shrugs are good enough. D.

BJaark, most Universities and some high schools, I would geuss, have a weight machine designed to use your head as the fulcrum for the movement of the weight stack. I saw where you are a University Teacher, go check out you're football teams weight room. If your in Div-I then you're school probably has one. If not a machine then they probably use weight harnesses. Thats why most guys on football teams have no-necks they overwork these muscles. ------------------

A neck machine... It's a machine made by a vendor like cybex where you sit in it and it's got a head harness that you move weight forwadr or back using the plates like an ab or back machine. There are leather harness "hats" That you put on your head and a chain hangs from it where you will attach a weight plate. Something like weighted dips belt. Hope that helps... ------------------

You can do neck exercises with a towel. Just roll it up and take it around your head. Hold the ends with one hand and resist while you pull with your neck the other way. You can do this in all 4 directions and it works quite well because you can control the resistance. ------------------
