I'm up at 3:00am and at the gym training by 4:00am to 5:15-5:30am for 4-days a week on an empty stomach. I take eff. creatine at 1:00-2:00am and a B-complex vitamin 2-3 amino caps and 1 andiopokinetix at 3:00am an hour before I hit the gym. I'm starting my first cycle in 2-weeks( sust,d-bol and deca) Anybody train early in the mornings like me? The reason I train early is I live in Las Vegas and work outdoors 8-10hrs a day in 100-110 heat, so it's hard to be motivated to train in the afternoon! So what's my question, about half way into my work-out I get fatigued and lose strength, I used to drink a carbo drink through-out my work-out but I thought it was too much sugar intake. Any tips ,flames or useful insites would be appreciated. peace. [This message has been edited by jocko (edited August 21, 2000).]

If I were you, I'd try to get around 40-50 grams of carbs and 20 grams of protein if at all possible...This will keep you full of energy and in an anabolic (or at least anti-catabolic) state without weighing you down. Even if it's just a little protein powder in some juice. The only time I make sure I'm training on an empty stomach is when I do back...I sometimes puke when doing barbell or dumbell rows.

I always train on an empty stomach. If your stomach can handle it, take ephedrine perworkout to get you by. When youre on the gear, the last thing to worry about is becoming catabolic, thats what the gears for! I find that a protein shake is too hard to digest when I work out, and it weighs me down... I have a shake 2-2 1/2 hours before and then nothing till after...

Try eating a Balance Bar (about 200 calories and only .99 at Wal-Mart) or the like, there are literally 100s of bars on the market! Or, take a scoop or 2 of something like Pro Complex powder (Optimum, 53 protein, not many carbs) or one with more carbs. If you're bulking, you gotta eat something, if it won't make you puke! When you're cutting, go it hungry!! ------------------

Gulp down 16-18oz of milk at 3:00, take your ECA at 3:30. Get protein and 40-70grams of simple carbs within an hour after you finish.

Drink one carbo force an hour before workout, that is 104 gms carbs and 416 cals. Careful though, with dbol, carbs like that can really give you some heartburn, even if you never had it. ------------------

Hey chesty, that seems like a lot of carbs before a work-out, how much of those carbs are sugar? I thought I read somewhere, correct me if I'm wrong, that you don't want an insulin rush before/during your work-out only after? But hey who am I, If thats what you use, the carboforce, then I'll give it a try. I bought a case of ripped force a few months back and that stuff really got me jacked for a work-out.

1 bowl of oatmeal, 1 small glass of milk, 2 protein bars......if your doing legs, eat hotdogs, real big bites, and swaller them whole... that way when ya puke, the chunks are too big to go through your fingers and you have the option of putting them in your pocket, or eating them again...could save ya some embarrassment...heh heh heh.....seriously...eat a light meal of complex carbs, and protein....nothing to weight ya down...!! ------------------ Ranger

Your going to have to make your nutriton a priority in order to make great gains. You would'nt drive your car on empty for a hour. Think about it.

Brother here is the real deal:To go at such a pace first thing in the morning, most people find they have a lot more energy and therefore burn more calories if they first eat a little something with plenty of carbohydrates--half a bagel, or some yogurt, or a piece of fruit. Think of it as "priming" the well of energy in your body. Some folks _like_ to exercise in the morning on an empty stomach, but it's not going to help them lose weight any faster than exercising another time of the day or than after having a bagel. There's an old exercise myth that doesn't seem to ever die, which says that after a night's sleep your muscles' ready energy is depleted so that if you exercise right then before eating you'll "only" burn fat. In reality, if your muscles' ready energy stores were that depleted you wouldn't even be able to get out of your bed. Metabolism of fat is a long, slow process (in biological terms), so if you had to depend solely on it to do a workout, it would have to be a very, very slow, easy one. (Ever seen film footage of a tree sloth moving?) What matters in the weight/fat loss battle is not what percentage of your energy is coming from fat at a given time in your workout, or even across the whole workout, but _total calories burned_. The more calories you can burn in a workout, the more efficiently you will have used your time. Go at as intense a pace as you can maintain for at least 20 minutes continuously. If you have more time, shoot for longer at a slightly easier pace; if you have less time, go harder. Fact is you still need some food in your system like a banana, oatmeal like Chesty said or a Power bar and a protien shake. Good luck, Chef ------------------

OR if you can't eat anything at least fill yourself with liquids. Chef ------------------ |
