cooking kills bacteria...true only a small portion of eggs are contaminated but its not worth the risk..i dont think you will die..you might get sick enough to not work out for a while...just take the few minutes to boil a dozen eggs,,eat it like marshmellows and go on.......peace

I think that Eggbeaters are pasteurized, so they're OK. Plenty of people drink this. -moondog

I used to throw three raw eggs into my vanilla protien shakes along with OJ and milk. My old football coach told me about it, but I sure as hell don't drink that stuff anymore.

Eating a raw egg would not only be extremely nasty, but the risks of getting some weird bacterial infection would be too much for me...even with some "vanilla..." Cook your stuff, the time is well worth it! **And I'd have to say that Rocky I was OK, II was very good, III kicked some serious ass, and IV was decent...V just kind of sucked. I hear they've already planned another where he fights his kid... ------------------

I drank "The perfect egg" for a while. It's nasty but safe to drink raw. Later, Green

Ok I can tell you that heat is what kills Salmonella. I work with that bacteria every day in my job. It is easily killed by heat, where as cold temperatures do not hurt it. Vanilla will not kill it off especially if the bacteria load is high. It is estimated that Salmonella is in 1 out of 10,000 eggs but why take the chance. If you want eggs, cook them. ------------------

btw assimilability of raw eggs is below 50%, hard-boiled eggs - above 90% so cook them

If you live on a farm or you have access to fresh eggs, then it's ok to consume raw. If those eggs are from the supermarket, then you should cook them. ------------------

Lqdmscle I have to disagree with that. I understand why you may think that, but it has nothing to do with the number of chickens in a commercial or back yard flocks. The main problem with chickens getting salmonella is from rodents. I have been on different size chicken farms and they all have problems with rodents. The chicken eat the rodent shit then become infected. Once the chicken is infected it only takes a day or two before she starts shedding it into the egg formation. I am not flaming you bro, like I said I understand why you thought what you did. ------------------

as long as the eggs are fresh, and been refrigerated, there is no problem with eating raw eggs.

Go to your local bakery store and ask them if you can get some pasturized eggs, they buy them by the bucket load and they're cheap as hell. Not to mention they're pasturized so you don't have to worry about salmonella.

bstrong, fresh eggs can cause Salmonella as much as an older eggs. Refrigeration keeps the bacteria numbers down but they are still in there. Once the egg is warmed up, the bacteria multiple by the thousands. This includes the heat from our body. The stomache acid kills some of the bacteria but not enough to prevent it from getting into the intestinal tract and causing illness. Once the chicken is shedding Salmonella in the egg, it is in there and can stay in there for months. So whether it is fresh or weeks old, cook them all. As mentioned earlier there are now pasturized whole eggs you can buy for those who which to eat eggs under cooked. Tests have shown them to be safe. ------------------ |
