I have watched many brothers fall out because of burnout and fear for their own lives. I have learned a magnitude of ideals from the aforementioned. All valuable in my mind. I have seen many close friends get burned out regardless of their sport(bodybuilding/strongman/powerlifting). All these athlets had the same thing in common they wanted to get to the top, nothing was going to get in their way. This type of single mindedness builds true champions, legends and Olympians. My uncle was an Olympian and held the world record in the Javelin for 4 years, I have leraned much from him. I also know of many great athletes who never did suffer from burnout and enjoyed competing well into their 50's sometimes even 60's. All these athletes had one thing in common, they never forgot what makes a great athlete; "Hard work." They knew that if they were going to reach greatness it wasn't going to come overnight and not without gut-wrenching training. From them I have learned that pateince and hard work will yield greatness. The athletes who suffer the shortest careers are usually the one's who try to reach the top the fastest, in doing so they use every possible weapon. These same athletes start to put too much emphasis on AS in an attempt to race to the top. Here is a common example: Dave is a competitive bodybuilder, in his second show he weighs in at 220 w/5% bodyfat he places 3rd. Dave evaluates his performance and regroups he decides in order for him to get to 235 at 5% he will need to make many changes. Far too often these changes are an increase in the amonut of drugs used and sometimes more drugs are added to the stack. This is were burnout starts, the athlete has placed far too much emphasis on the drugs. These athletes usually lack the patience that is needed to build a phsyique without constantly upping the dosages. If your dosages constantly increase, it likely that burnout will become a reality. I use AS as a tool to help me attain certain individual goals, and I have seen how easily it can become to get carried away. Several times I have caught myself before I committed to doing something detrimental, in an attempt to improve quickly. I will continue to use AS but I will often remind myself that there's a point of diminishing returns where the losses way outweigh the gains. It's a gray area, but you will know when you are there, our bodies speak to us.
Here's what Lou had to say about AS:
NM: Do you cycle? LS: No, I stay on. I don't believe in periodization in training, either. I use mostly anabolics like Equipoise and Laurabolin until it's time for a competition, and then I do the harder androgens. I do not take Anadrol. I've never had any problems. There's no possible way I can train the way I do without taking anabolics, but the same techniques of training apply even if you're natural | ||
