anyone here use high doses of vit A to help treat acne and steriod-induced acne? Has it worked for you and what doses did you take? I've heard taking 300,000 IUs a day will clear it up to a degree very quickly, but that is an extremely high, toxic dose. This would be a less effective alternative to accutane. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

True but higher doses of certain vits can help treat certain things. Half of accutane's ability of treat acne is the high amount of synthetic vit A. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I had bad acne as a teenager and ultimately went on accutane. The good thing about accutane versus vitamin A is that you'll have the help of a doctor the evaluate your progress. I could be wrong here, but the side effects of high vitamin A doses can be similar to accutane. I would be very careful just deciding to load yourself up with huge dosages of vitamin A when there are alot of acne option out there including various topical preparations. -moondog ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well see the thing is, I have tried everything: accutane twice, few years ago, brevoxyl(using now), clindamycin pledgets(using now), antibiotics(finished using), washes, ect, ect, ect. the reason I'm having a hard time is because of using pro-hormones, they have killed my face every time. I finished taking prohormones about 3months ago and still trying to get it under control. See if I use AS or products that are going to make me break out every time, I dont want to be having to take accutane everytime to treat the acne. After the second time I had bad, aching joints from it and I'm nervous about taking it 3+ times. If vit A could be taken at moderate doses to somewhat mimic accutane, then it would be great to use post cycle to help reduce steriod induced acne. Anyone that does this? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I haven't done in any research on it, haven't really ever heard of taking vitamin A for acne (E, etc., yes) BUT I wouldn't f*ck around with that high a dose of any vitamin--your body's just gonna p*ss most of it out anyway! Go to a doctor, get help and advice from a trained professional, like a dermatoligist, I would say... ...my 2 cents... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Vitamin A doesn't get pissed out of the body, it builds up and is very toxic!!!! Ask any doctor, this has been known for many years, its one of the few vitamins that you will get warned about. Find another solution for the acne, your just asking for trouble if you take excessive amounts of vitamin A!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
