Was wondering if any of you have this same problem. When working out on my tris doing headcavers, I get this cracking noise from my elbows. Now there isnt any real pain but you can hear it and its kind of loud. I also get the same noise from my left shoulder when doing front raises but just not as loud. Does anyone have any suggestions to curing this problem.

My doc said this was just air in the joints(?) He said it wasn't anything to worry about unless there was pain attached.

I dont know about it being air in your joints because it would crack between every rep. Cracking, to me, is the cause of two bones rubbing against each other. Anyone else have any suggestions.

It's not bone on bone, if so joint would swell and very painfull (Arthritis or DJD). MY own opinion (IF WORTH ANY THING), we get cavitations in joint from the gases, but if the tendons that help support the joint are injured, increased tightness, or stretched (hypermobile). Tightness in the joint lessening the space and increases cavitations. If lose it can cause slight subluxations (common shoulder via S.I.T.S) and lets more gases in the joint. I have both shoulder and elbow popping, I have been able to decrease the shoulder noise and pain by External and Internal rotation. The Elbow seems to respond best to stretching.... SORRY FOR THE LONG POST....

getnekid: you sound like you know what your talking about. what would you recommend for a tightness in the elbow joint due to a partially torn UCL? its not bad, i can shrug some heavy weight but it does get tight. especially right after the set. i seem to be getting stronger though without increased pain. but i am a pitcher, and having a strong UCL is crucial.

When you say headcavers, I assume thats the same as lying triceps extensions with an EZ bar...

I can almost bet that you are coming down too far on the negative part of the rep... Only bring it down to a 45 degree angle and the popping will go away.

It doesn't only happens with headcavers, it also happens with extensions and other things. Thanks for your help anyways.
