"An optimum diet when on steroids involves consuming 6,000 to 9,000 calories per day. Most people regularly consume 2,500 to 3,000 calories per day. Second only to intense training, a high calorie diet is the most important factor to be in place for significant muscle gains. In other words, a thirty pound gain in lean muscle mass has to come from somewhere. Of those calories, 60% should be complex carbs, 20% complete protein, and 20 % fat." This come from that Secrets to mail order success book from this site, and if this is accurate(which it seems you dont think so) how do you consume that much? I always thought along your lines, but I was gonna back down to this reference.(or should I??) ------------------ IP: Logged |

Take a second and ponder the enormity of a 6,000 to 9,000 calorie diet relative to the average steroid user. Such an enourmous magnatiude of food might be applicable if your frame and size is comperable to a Greg Kovacs. Assuming that neither of us along with 98% of the members of this board possess a somatotype equal to that of a Greg Kovacs than we can assume that undertaking such a diet would be an over kill. The use of hormones does indeed stoke ones internal furnace. Indeed, the user needs additional nurishment, because quite frankly the use of these hormones makes it possible to better assimilate the additional caloric intake. I was presented with this perspective. Mind you this will fluctuate depending upon numerous issues. Including ones physical and metabolic state prior to hormone introduction. If your ectomorphic with a moderatly hyperactive thyroid, as is one of my aquaintances involved in bodybuilding, his metabolism and ready ability to store fats and gain muscle as expected would be some what impared. He then begins testosterone. If at 170lbs this individual was consuming 2500 calories maintaining that present state. It would not be outrageous to instruct him to increase his caloric intake by 100% Gradually. However, such a plan would not be advisable, given my endomorphic tendancies. In conclusion dietary increase is relative, it does not boil down to a set figure. On average most people I know will increase their dietary intake by only 20-30% like myself and my trainers do. But, in Dave's case "hyperactive thyroid" we pumped his by 100% ------------------ IP: Logged |

translation of twisted's statement (simplified version): everyone is different, compose your diet as it fits you and not someone else. what might work for others might not be the best for you. know your body and its needs and plan your diet accordingly... ------------------ "The greatest risk is not taking one."
