Go back to the home page and click on News/Articles. Then go to the part about ketogenic diet. The diet they are referring to is the same as the anabolic diet.. Peace...Mav

I gave this one a try and it kicked ass for me (I did slightly adjust the carbs up though, 40 a day was killing me)!

Gotta warn you though. I tried it for a month and quit. It is a very hard diet to follow. Your food choices are very limited. Good luck if you try it! Peace...Mav

That diet sounds great. I think I will give it a try. Did you have any problems BigTruck while doing it? Did you sit down and outline how you would specifically do it? Like plan a day of meals and stick to it everyday, while ajusting calories accordingly in the different phases? How time consuming is it, I'm a college student, without a whole lot of extra time to spare.

the no carb thing isnt that great. just get your fat real high using mct oil. use 2 tbls or 3 in every meal. that'll give u more than 1200 extra calories and an extra 140-160g of fat that your body wont store as body fat, unless youre a lazy bastard and dont do anything. i'm 5'8 188. my calories r about 4500 from food + 1200 from mct. my strength just keeps going up and up and my fat in going down. i've put on about 3 pounds in the past month. oh and my protein is 400, carbs 650 and dietary fat about 70. this works well for me. give it a try.

Clemdog - No, I didn't really have any problems on it -- I didn't even need the fiber supplement. The first week was a real drag though -- took a little while to get used to it.

Initially it did take up a little bit of time in meal planning, but once I had specific meals mapped I could swap them around to fit my goals.

I did find over time that 40 carbs for me was too low. I just couldn't handle it on a prolonged basis -- I adjusted up to 60 - 100 grams of carbs per day and it didn't seem to effect my progress. I had great results with the diet. I plan to go on it again pretty quick and still follow the general principles of high-fat, high-protein, moderate to low carbs. (although I "cheat" whenever I want to while I'm not on the diet)

E-mail me and I can send you some of the info I put together for it. Later.

Well I've been on the anabolic diet for little over a month now, lost 10 pounds of fat and keep most of my little muscle, not easy at the beginning but you get used to it, I go low carbs (25-30 grams/day), you don't always have to eat, when your hungry only, based food; eggs(boiled, hardcooked, etc), steak, pork, sausage, ham, water, suger free jell-o, diet coke, etc...look at the interview with Dr Dipasquale on the TESTOSTERONE.COm site + do a search on anabolic diet you'll even get food menus, etc on different sites...the 2 days carb-up where you ca eat anything....pizza, burgers & fries, few beers will be fun you'll see. Personnaly I have a protein drink right after training = protein, water, metamucil 5 grams(fibers), if you want to loose you go for about your body weight x 16 (200 x 16) 3200 calories, then second week drop 500 calories and so on till you loose 2 pounds a week which should be mainly fat, good luck...

BTW you should buy a calorie counter (book) and a little scale, will ease the process...

You might also want to read "Bodyopus" by Dan Duchaine...it is not an easy read at all, but its the most informative book on ketogenic diets Ive seen.

In case you're interested, here's some information I put together for my anabolic (NEAR-ketogenic) diet. It is figured for a 200 pound individual, but the formulas are there so you can adjust it as you need to.

Anabolic Diet

Ratios:

Mon. Fri. 60% Fat, 35% Protein, 5% Carbs
Sat. Sun. 30% Fat, 10% Protein, 60% Carbs

Supplements:
Multivitamin
Fish Oils (Omega 3s)
Fiber Supplement (Metamucil) (Optional)
Caffeine Tablets

Body Fat Measurement:
Get body fat measured before each phase (using the same measuring device)

Phase I
Maintenance Phase:
(3 4 Weeks)

3600 calories per day (18x bodyweight @ 200 lbs.)

Mon. Fri.:
Fat: 2160 cal. (240 grams)

o If below 10% body fat, proceed to bulking phase
o Phase lasts indefinitely (until body fat percentage goal reached, 6% 8%)

o Target weight loss is 1.5 lbs. 2 lbs. per week
o If weight loss exceeds 2 lbs. per week, add 500 cal. per day, per week until target reached

Notes:
o If at/above 10% body fat, proceed to cutting phase

o Target weight gain is about 2 lbs. per week
