I am starting to wonder whether i am eating right in the morning, since I am seeing almost no results. I am at the gym by 5:00 am, since cardio is best done on an empty stomach, i do my cardio first, followed by a quick breakfast of 4 eggwhites and plain oatmeal. I have to eat before i lift, because i am hypoglycemic, i feel nauseous and light headed if i don't eat right away, plus i have no energy to lift as heavy as i would like. Does anyone else have experience with early morning workouts? How should i go about eating? I know it's best to eat right after you lift, it comes out that I eat right before. Oh, and I cannot go to the gym twice a day, so please don't suggest doing cardio in the morning and lifting at night. Thanks...

Violet, why would you want to squeeze in a days worth of athletic activity within such a narrow time span. Considering your hypogycemic condition, I empathize completly. If possible, do your cardio then eat. Get ready for work, complete your days worth at the office. Eat well while working, pack those meals. Come home relax for an hour, hit the gym around 7:00 pm.

thanks twisted steel, but i have plenty of time in the morning, plus another reason i work out in the morning is because it's the only time my personal trainer could train me.

your going to have to eat more. Include a higher glycemic meal with your breakfast. Glass of orange juice, along with the complex carbs of the oatmeal, along with the eggs should set you right in 20 minutes. You just need quicker acting sugers for energy b4 you begin resistance training.

Violet, How long after eating breakfast do you train? Your body needs to be replenished from the earlier cardio as well as leave sufficiant time for some digestion, if your body is trying to digest a heavy meal than it'll really hinder your workout. Maybe try a liquid MRP between cardio and lifting, so your glycogen will get quickly replenished and it will be easier and quicker for your body to digest. Also, your personal trainer should make his schedule accommodate you, not vice versa. If you need to workout in the evenings to make progress and his schedule does not allow it then it's time for either a change or for him to make room for you. Hell, I'm certified(Doesn't mean much these days, a blind monkey could get certified in a weekend now!). Hell, if your near PA or Jersey I'll train you.

mossimo, i go in, do cardio, then eat right away, then go straight into lifting, without a break in between. Oh and my personal trainer is my fiance, I work out in that gym because of him. It is convenient for both of us that I go in the morning, so he doesnte have to come back to the gym, when I get home from work ( around 6 pm)I will try your suggestion though. thanks

TW is right, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you need to eat a little more than that especially if you are doing all of your training in the morning. 4 egg whites is hardly enough protein for starters, you are looking at about 12 grams there and the protein in the oatmeal is not a complete protein, so I wouldn't even count that.

by the way Mossimo, I would never train with anyone but my fiance. As far as training goes, he knows what he is doing.
