Just want to introduce myself. Been lifting since 77, competing since 89, been natty to date, but plan on going on the big boy supplements as soon as I learn how to properly. Been lurking awhile and feel there's lots of knowlegdable people on this board that can help me get started. IP: Logged |

From one old fart to another, welcome. I thought I knew a lot about gear, but I have learned a ton from the young, scientific brothers on this board. You found the right place. Remember though, ironaddict, there is but one ironmaster - just kidding, write me if you have questions for the aged. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the warm welcome, you know I never thought about being an Old Fool from the Old School, but I guess you're right. Maybe I should have called myself Petrified Iron!! Well, my first bodybuilding idols were Arnold, Serge N, Sergio O, and Frank Z. Can anyone relate? Back in 89, I competed in my first show, which was the NPC Central Coast Championships. I took 2nd place in the LW Open. I competed natural and the gap between 1st and 2nd was big. No way could I compete against striated glutes and hamstrings. I did plenty of mediocre natural shows from 89-96 with about 7 people in the audience. In 96, I won the ABA Nationals and placed 4th in the Natural Universe against the likes of BJ Quinn, John Hansen, and Eddie Wide. From there to date, I have had a string of 2nd places to guys who used to use gear, got off it to compete in natural shows, and I just couldn't compete against that side split in the leg. My last show was in March 2000 and I should have won my class (everybody says that, right?). I've always been intrigued and watched younger guys surpass me through gear usage. I figure what the hell have I been waiting for? The natural movement is dying...I'm dying, so I honestly think I'm ready. It's time for me to show some of the guys at my gym what mind muscle link is really all about. IP: Logged |
