Although they contain nicotine, a stimulant, cigarettes also decrease the amount of oxygen in the blood supply, thus leading to diminished athletic capability.

I would say that overall, the cons far outweigh the pros.

This was one habbit I had to quit! I didn't think it was hurting much but stop for a couple of weeks and you'll notice a huge performance gain! I don't mind firing up the doobie much but cigarettes will hurt your gains in my book. I think it's a great lifestyle change in it's self. I have a couple tricks to help quit if anyones intrested shoot me an email. I smoked for 5 years and quit cold and haven't touched the shit since! Good luck, it isn't easy but not impossible.

I recently saw that cigarettes contain 101 different poisons...that's 100 more than rat poison! I don't see how anyone could hit the gym real hard, AND smoke half a pack a day...or even smoke one for that matter!

ive heard quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin, not that i would know but, i would quit the smokin cause it probably would hinder your gains, so just call yourself out and challenge yourself and see if you have the gonads to do it

Quitting smoking is very hard!!! I believe it's like roid rage, more mental than anything!! You just have to have it in you to do it. If your effort is half assed you'll die a smoker. Just get hooked on your health. Killing the butts has been the best choice I've made in a very very long time!

Look at the bright side, when your in therapy for cancer, at least you won't have to shave your chest anymore!

Drop the cigarette and pickup a protein bar.

thermo is right.......nicotine is the most addictive substance and as such is a harder habbit to quit successfully than opiates or cocaine. i smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 8yrs......quit that shite and youll see not only your athletic performance increase due to more oxygen available youll also save a boatload of money--quit when bulking though cause yer gonna eat.

Zyban works but its expensive.......get a script for wellbutrin--same drug and dosage as zyban but insurance picks up the tab.....its an anti-depressant

Hey buddy, just cause you bust your ass in the gym doesnt mean you cant enjoy a cigarette or a beer. i started smoking recently, and it hasnt hurt my gains at all. I may not be able to do agility training like i did when i was in football, but weight training is mostly anaerobic......smoke em if you got em! peace

Wiz I don't know about smking a car but I like to push them arround. Well I got a huge response in my inbox so I'll just post it here for everyone to read. This is what I did and it worked very well.

The first step is to set a date that you're going to quit and stick to it. Get a calendar and mark the date. Make it a month from now. Circle it and don't change it. Second step is don't try and switch to ultra lights or anything. Just smoke your brand you always do because you might as well enjoy what you can. Next get a stop watch that you can set to go off every hour or two hours etc.. You figure you have 4 weeks left to smoke. I was at a pack a day and this is how I did it. Week one I set the watch to go off every 2 hours. When the watch would go off I'd go light up and enjoy my smoke. Try to smoke it as close to it going off as possible. You don't get to do your next count down until AFTER you smoke your cigarette. After your smoke break set the clock to go off again 2 hours later. Do that for a week. The next week I set the clock to every 3 hours. By this time your body will be adjusted to the wait. A little longer isn't as big of a deal as you think. The next week set it to every 3.5 hours. Now for me that was about 1/4 pack a day. The last week I'd limit it to 2 cigarettes a day. You can smoke them when you want and how you want. I'd sometimes smoke 1/2 put it out and save the rest for later. It's all up to you. After that week that's it. No more. If you followed your plan through the entire month it's a breeze at this point. The first week or two will be the hardest. Here are a few tips to follow all along. If you don't take a mulit-vitamin AND B-12 start. Take them daily for the whole month and a few weeks after. You can use St. Johns wart to help with mood swings or cravings. Always have gum or some kind of candy in your possession just in case you feel like having a smoke and it's not time yet. It really helps! Other than that it's just a frame of mind bro. If you don't have it in you to quit you wont. You need to really want it, to have it! You can post a few pieces of paper on your mirror at home, at your desk at work that just says "DON'T" or my favorite "ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE" on them. It's a visual reminder not to be weak and give in. I guarantee that you'll feel a big difference in a couple of weeks of quitting. You'll find that you have a better appetite, better tase and smell. more energy and an ambition to be healthy. Good luck and keep me posted on your results. This worked very well for me. Oh and what ever you do don't keep a full pack of cigarettes with you at ANY time!!! Know how many you're going to need for the day and put them in a pack of their own. Temptation is a killer!!!!! Good luck and good breathing!!!!
Peace,
Green

look at it this way. if you smoke five packs a week, thats $15 out of pocket per week, $780 per year. you could do a nice eight to ten week cycle of sust, dbol and clomid or at the very least buy a two month supply of the fine muscletech products. ciao
for now

I find the whole smoking thing rediculous. Could you imagine any other mammal voluntarily sucking smoke into their lungs? For what benifit? To be more relaxed? I've had a few people in my family die because of lung cancer and it didn't seem like a swell time. Lemme ask you this; if you find out you have cancer tommorow will you quit? If you say yes than why would you ever start smoking? Almost everyone that I know who started smoking ended up the same. Suffering then dead.
