I copied this from Fitness Chicks post in The Womens Forum..
Just to get some Bros take on this

Here's something to think about...something pretty damn scary that I question the reason as to why it happened...A friend of ours( myself, Irongod, & Steelsoldier) who was a pretty consistent gear user, had a heart attack 2 days ago....he is 30 years old...he is still in the hospital, & we are awaiting word on how he is.....He is 5'11, 285-(12%-15% bf) A really big solid guy....he has taken sus, d-bol, ...well, almost everything you can think of in the last 5 years....he cycled off, but not for as long as he should have....

Now you let me know what you think....this isn't something that happens everyday, is it?
He must have had some sort of undiagnosed problem with his heart to have a heart attack at 30 years old; Something like this just doesn't happen from gear alone....or can it?????

That sucks man. But sometimes these things happen and nobody can explain why. A girl I used to date just died of a stroke (25 years old) and the docs just couldn't explain it. Perfect health and no drugs or family history of this sort of thing. Like I said, it just happens sometimes. Just hope he's OK and they find out what happened.

Steroids do not yield heart attacks. Reckless abuse however can yield anything. 5'11 285 most probably reflects reckless use.

roids could give u higher B.P. higher cholesterol levell and that's just the just the roids like primo/winny/deca ,the strongest the juice is the more sides it would have,
one should make his own choice knowing what;s the risks.

BUMP bstrong. roids can definetly affect your blood pressure and cholestorol. and even more when you offe season and eating everything in sight. BUT they do not cause heart attacks.

I know steroids don't cause heart attacks, it just seems to amplify problems that probably would not have surfaced this early in life.

It worries me because my fathers family has a history of heart disease,so I am extra careful and get checked out every 3 months and take my BP every day (twice /day).

I'll keep all of you updated on his condition and get the doctors report on what kind of attack it was.
I know this kind of shit strikes a cord with some of you.

It has certainly got me a little paranoid.

Plain and Simple its not healthy to be that big, your heart just cant handle all that extra weight. Personally I dont think its healthy to be over 230 lean at a 5'10 height

I agree with Vince, however I don't find it the rule. Their are some people that have the genetics at 5'10 to weigh a solid 250. These people are few and far in between though. These same people are just big guys who have big bones/organs/frames so their bodies and heart are designed to handle the 250lbs. The heart problem can become a reality when a 150lb 20 yesr old bulks up to 285 over the peroid of 5 years. This doesn't happen every day but plenty of people have shown massive gains.

Bottom line, there's only so much weight each of our individual bodies can carr and still be healthy. Will that stop us from becoming massive.................

a non-benefitial thickening of the heart muscle , its been written about a bunch of times ...Its no secret .. the heart gets enlarged , the volume of blood it pumps stays the same or decreases as formerly open ventricles and atriums close in on themselves making the heart function less and less efficiently until heart attack .
( hypertrophic cardiac myopathy )
(asymmetric septal hypertrophy) or if you will :

" The thickened muscle usually contracts well and ejects most of the blood from the heart. However the muscle in HCM is often
stiff and relaxed poorly, requiring higher pressures than normal to expand with the inflow of blood. The amount of blood which the
heart can hold is therefore reduced and this in turn will limit the amount of blood which can be ejected with the next contraction.

Occasionally patients present with minimal to no hypertrophy, but sever restrictions to the normal inflow of blood into the
ventricles. The differentiation from Restrictive Cardiomyopathy may be different and accurate diagnosis relies on the presence of
other features of the two conditions."

So AS dont cause heart attacks , but they do add contributing factors over time ( cholesterol , BP , Clotting factors , electrolyte imbalance etc .)
No one said the shit was harmless , did you think they were kidding ?
