One of the first principles that was pounded into my head was the absolute futility of the scale. Day after Day, in mantra like form, I was reminded about the scales deceptive nature. It was illustrated to me, example after classic example, just what type of people use the scale as their primary measure of sucess.
The people that just dont know any better. As bodybuilders of various degrees of success, some of us in here are indeed professionals, others I know are National NPC competitors, others like myself are just beginning with local/state shows. Thanks to those people around me, I will never again take into consideration what the scale has to tell me.
Those of you engauged in "chemical supplementation" make the mistake of weighing yourselves to often, reporting back these two digit increases in weight never once taking into consideration its meaning.
The scale should be use three times in the year for the competative athlete. Once at the beginning of a cycle, once at the cycles significant end; once significant adipos tissue has been shed. Finally, before prejudging. Thats it. The mirror is your guide, informing you of your successes and failures. Your cloth, other peoples comments, etc. But, never ever, THE SCALE.

Ohh btw, Happy Birthday to Twisted_Steel. I have graced this earth with a Twenty Two year tenure. God willing many more birthdays will follow.

Happy birthday bro..based on the intelligence of your posts, I'd have guessed you are older than 22.
