I know fish is great for you and that rice is also not to bad in limited quanities. The sushi I eat are california rolls and tuna rolls and have a lot of rice in them. Anyone care to speculate on how many calories are in each piece of these rolls and if the rice is to much. I would guess between 40 and 60 calories.

You'd be lucky if you got 40 cals. out of one of those. That would be great for carbs but there wouldn't be much protein in them. (very little fish in those) Get the fish where it's just on top of the rice. Looks cooler, tastes better (in my opinion), and has more fish so there is more protein.

Good I WOULD PREFER them to be less calories as I have 3 rolls at 8 pieces a roll.

I love the sushi too lad but keep in mind that California rolls are full of mayo- okay for bulking, shitty for dieting. try to get the bowl of rice with the large pieces of tuna and salmon on it(I forgot what it's called) - perfect meal for carbs and protein.

I love sushi. I don't like the rolls that much, but the plain sushi on the rice is one of my favorites. If you like greater quantities of rice, chirashi sushi is the ticket. It's a big bowl of vinegar rice with various sashimi on top.

Mayo in the california rolls????? Where? All I see is white fish (people think it is crab), avocado and rice. I'm really hungry to now and I just ate an hour ago. Late nite is my hardest time dieting.

if you're getting the same california rolls I see just about everywhere, then they do have mayo it. the crab meat is shredded up and mixed it with mayo to give it a creamy texture. If you're getting something like this, then it's mayo. Just ask the chef next time.

BTW, almost all california rolls are made of imitation crab (usually Alaskan pollock) which tastes almost like crab. The ones with real crab meat are like $6 for six rolls (and are not very common).

I think if you go to a real good sushi place there is no mayo included. I'm almost positive that there is no mayo in mine. I will look closely next time though.
