When you see white smoke rising up from the roof at 217 18th st NYC that means a new mod has been chosen. IP: Logged |

I used to think that being a mod on EF would be super cool. But now, after being a mod on two (and soon to be three) smaller and cozier boards, and understanding how much bullshit the EF mods have to deal with -- through personal communication with a few of them -- I'm glad I'm not a mod on EF. (But you can still invite me, George; really, it would be a good sign that you aren't prejudiced against those who live outside North America, something about which people have speculated, perhaps unjustifiably.) This board is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it is in my opinion, hands-down the best board on the Internet, with the highest quality participation and the most knowledgeable and helpful mods. On the other hand, it attracts a huge and, uh, very diverse audience to whom mods must pay attention as part of their unpaid duties. It's gotta be weird sometimes. My hat's off to the mods. Seriously. I honestly don't know how you folks do it and lead normal lives with, heaven forbid, family or other outside activities. Dexter

Dexter, I saw a post here yesterday and there were guys who said they actually leave the board and come back later. Can you believe that??? [This message has been edited by ulter (edited August 08, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Sure, ulter, it's not difficult to believe. This board is the best. The information is always changing and fresh (okay, some posts are tedious...). It's alluring. It's naturally addictive to someone who takes his or her cycles seriously. Dexter ------------------ IP: Logged |

Dexter, My point was some people would actually leave the board.(Joke) Glad to see you're at your computer I hear there are bombs going off in Moscow tonight. [This message has been edited by ulter (edited August 08, 2000).] IP: Logged |

I have to echo those sentiments. I'm also a mod on two boards, neither of which have the posting volume of EF. Just deleting all of the damn scammers is a pain in and of itself. I recently had a deletion battle with a troll on another board... turns out it was Lee Preist. IP: Logged |

Paul, I feel for ya bro. It must be hell when a guy like Lee Preist gets on your board and acts like he knows anything about Body Building. Damn Newbie's!! IP: Logged |

Unfortunately, he never posted anything about training. He just disrupted the board in retalliation of a couple of people saying nasty things about him. IP: Logged |

You would think he is above that. I met Lou Farigno and I had a date who embarrassed the hell out of me.. she looked at his pictures from competition and said "that looks gross" just as he was signing one for me. He just smiled at her and shook my hand. Class. IP: Logged |

ulter, that was a cool post. Not because of any humor regarding a scene which would have melted most bro's into the floor, but because you mentioned it. The Bell Curve applies to both men and women. Sounds like your date was a few standard deviations to the left. Statistically speaking. Makes me want to watch "Pumping Iron" again, however! I've always liked Farrigno, ever since he was the Hulk, but I certainly haven't ever met him in person, like you did. Yeah, the fucking bomb went off here in Moscow. It's a sick world when innocent people are killed and injured in a terrorist bombing. I travel through that subway passage all the time (on the way to the gym), and I know that there are tons of people there, and dozens of little kiosks and shops. I guess it's fortunate more people weren't killed and injured, it's so busy. Dexter ------------------ IP: Logged |
