Let's say you mail a domestic source money. How long do should one wait while hearing "I have not got your money yet" before taking action to rectify the situation? Assume the mail is from Maine and headed to southern California.

Also, what would be the proper steps after the grace period?

I live in Maine...if you've got a beef..give me the addy and I'll check for ya.

Maine to Cali..depends on how it was sent. I've mailed letters to San Diego and it can take 4 to 7 days depending on how the postal sorting center in Portland takes.

All Maine mail goes thru Portland before it heads out of state.

Have not used the source. But he has an came highly recommended.

What is the appropriate action. This group can put a fear into scammers. I am willing and able to travel to make a point.

I'm really confused by your post...complaining about a possible scam...even though you have not used the guy?

How can you be scammed if you never used??

Form a group if you never used?

bb...shoot me a mail. If it's near where I live in Southern Maine, I can swing by to check it out.

I know 2 bros here in Maine..one's great...one's a scam and has been for like 2 years. The scam jerk is listed all over the scammer list. He lives near U-Maine Orono still.

I still don't understand your post though. It sounded like someone got shafted for money...then you state that you've never used the guy.

OK. Here we go.

I mailed money to a reputable source 2 weeks ago today. It was sent first class USPS. The source just told me today that he has not recieved the money. I have used steroids many times before. But, I have never used this source. I placed an order that was probably too much $$$ for first time, but here I am wondering how long to wait before releasing the name as a scammer and seeking this guy out.

USPS...that's postal service first class. It should have arrived in a couple of days...a week at the most.

First class mail is very quick.

As I said, I live in Maine. All incoming/outgoing mail goes thru the sorting center in Portland, Maine.

I've had mail being late in the past..but never first class.

Seriously...shoot me a mail. Would love to know more.

Did you use a tracking number? If you didn't, you have no way to tell if he received it or not.

No we did not use a tracking number. I always have ordered overseas via Western Union.

Realistically though, what are the chances that a first class letter gets lost?

You have to send $$ Priority with a conf slip. This way you can both track it. You know when it gets there, no one can lie,no one signs. Also, Postal employess could keep regular mail if they believe there is $$ in it and there is no conf # as it is not recorded.

If you have no tracking number how can you call him a scammer? Maybe it did get lost and he never received it. In the future, send priority with delivery confirmation or Western Union, at least you will know if they receive it.

How much you out bro? I know it sucks, but I don't think you have a way to definitively say it was the guy. The letter (although doubtful) could have got lost. Or, if you weren't careful in how you packaged the money (i.e. double envelope, money folded into construction paper) an employee might have figured out there was cash in there and scammed it. Or, like you said, the letter could have got there and the guy pocketed it.

One thing you could try if the guy doesn't know you didn't get delivery confirmation, is send him a mail and say that you did have it and it shows that it was delivered. If he doesn't reply, you might be able to reasonably assume it was him.

BTW, delivery confirmation only costs 34 cents when you send something priority (and priority is only a few bucks). Definitely worth it.

But how much are you out?
