O.K. Bro's here's a question for you. I have heard that when you do deadlifts(working your lower back) that it helps you define your abs better(love handle). but I hear of all these guys who go heavy on deadlifts now wouldn't that make you waist bigger? and going light wouldn't that make your lower back more ripped? and if so why wouldn't people just go light instead of heavy because who wants a big waist. any thought?

I have never seen anyone get a bigger waist from deadlifts including myself and they are my favourite lift so I do them heavy and often. The only issue with the abs is they are stabilizer muscles for heavy lifts and can get some secondary work on deadlifts squats etc.

But doing heavy deadlifts would make your lower back more muscular and wouldn't that
make you abs appear to be wider?

I suppose so, but since you will likely be losing fat due the the AWESOME POWER of deadlifts, the end result of waistline would be a decrease or perhaps keep the same size, just less fat on the 'handles.
