Lotus:

What weight were you lifting, and what was both your grip (prone, alternating) and your stance (stiff leg, sumo)?

I like deads a lot, I really know what FlexMex means by his bus metaphor, but they KILL my back. And I'm not talking about moving major iron, either, but a pretty light bar, maybe 320 for reps, is all. I've been doing sumo DLs on leg day, but find that I can't afterward do barbell rows on back day without throwing a fucking disk. If I do DLs on back day, my back's still killing me on leg day, and my squats suck bigtime.

Maybe I should try a lighter bar? Vary the grip or stance? Don't know. This week I left them out of my leg routine, and might put them in on back day (tomorrow) go lighter, and see if I can squat worth a damn next Monday.

Just rambling, now. Glad you discovered what some bros call "the King of lifts."

In my opinion deadlifts are 1 of the main 3 importand lifts.
1 : Bench press.
2 : Squat.
3 : Deadlifts.

If you're just starting to do them, I think you'll find a
whole lotta change in your physique - back especially.

OH jeez... i really do think that these are gonna make so much difference... i feel muscles hurtin now that i never have before.

i did them with my knees slightly bent to begin then to a fully exstended position. i began with just a plate on each side being that ive never done them befor... and ended up with my last set of 5 with 280. I did 4 sets total... now i think im gonna die, i can hardly move... i love it !

I like deads too, but I tried someones (rangers, i think) squat routine of strip sets. That destroyed my legs, still hurt from doing them on sunday. If you like the pain try them.
