You may laugh at this but don't knock it until you try it. I thought I was hitting cardio hard until my friends car died and we had to push it 100 yards or so to get it off the road and it felt like my heart was going to explode. I mean I was fucking fatigued! For about two weeks I've been pushing a car up and down a back road by my house and I took 40 seconds off my mile time in just two weeks. Grant it's a Ford explorer and you look retarded doing it but what a workout in a short amount of time. Better than sprints in my book! Anyway do you guys stumble onto weird tricks like this? I've heard of people doing this as part of leg workouts. I may give it a shot. IP: Logged |

Hell Green... now that's dedication! What's more, I really like it. It's a great mix of aerobic with anaerobic. I'm going to be on the look out for a semi-secluded road and sure enough I'm going to be pushing my Cherokee. (Hmmm, maybe I should start with my fiends Geo Prizm, huh?) IP: Logged |

I just got back from pushing a mile in fact. Damn my legs are on fire! I got retarded about it today and I'm going to pay for it tomorrow!! Does anyone do anything like this for cardio or training. I met a guy on line from up north and he'd cut all his neighbors wood for the winter for a good workout. It's actually how he paid for his winter cycle every year. Lets hear'em. Nothing could be worse then pushing a perfectly good car arround all the time. Later, Green IP: Logged |

Hay Man, I like that. I think your crazy but I like your style. I was doing the same thing when I was younger with my father's 18 wheeler, but the transmision blew out when I was pushing up hill. I hate when that happens.....LOL IP: Logged |

HEHE, I do it all the time, I'm always working on building this car or that car! I find that you really use alot of muscles that you don't know you have with an old motor and hand tools! My friend is HUGE compared to me and can out lift me hands down, but when it comes to getting bolts lose and shit like that he can never do it! Hack IP: Logged |

i can see your neighbor, a little old lady sitting in the window yelling to her husband. "honey! come look! it's that odd boy from down the road pushing his car around again. you know, that's the third time this week? is he just stupid and runs out of gas all the time? maybe he's on drugs?" what some people must think when they see something like that. but to a bunch of gear heads like us, it all makes sense. too funny IP: Logged |

Well bro, I tried it. Thought that maybe it might be too hard for me at first so I took my car to california street in San Fran. If you all are gonna do this, make sure you have a extra person to sit behind the wheel. Anybody got a car for sell? Anybody know of a insurance agency that will cover someone with multiple collisions? Hint for the day: Don't push your car downhill. jk. Sounds like a great workout bro. IP: Logged |

Oh I'm sure a few people that have houses that back up to the street think I'm all doped up on something. Not to mention I play my music loud in the car while I do it. They must think I'm crazy because no one has ever asked me about it. Funny shit. Later, Green IP: Logged |

to those of you who may not have the proper place to perform the "car push" or if you are a little concerned aboutr what people may think....try my alternative! The "Wall Push". Go run a mile or 2 and break a sweat. Then come home and do a set of as many pushups as you can, then stretch and get your breath back. Then get some tunes cranking and try to move the concrete walls in your basement or garage...it is a plyometric type excercise but it will cause you to grow...upper and lower body will be totally exhausted...this can be done in the privacy of your own home! One question. Do you have someone in the car steering for you. In my neighborhood they would just end up throwing money at me and tell me to go but some gas. IP: Logged |

I know that a lot of the wrestlers competeing in no rules tournaments like the UFC do this a lot , I have seen a video of mark coleman and mark kerr doing this and it is great for leg power especially if you do it for fast sprints, well as fast as you can sprint pushing a car anyway. IP: Logged |

No I don't have anyone steering. It's a closed road behind my house. I just start in the middle and if it starts to drift I jog up and correct the steering. I only have to do that about twice a push. I've done it with my buddy a few times but he has chicken legs and gets tired too fast. He's liking it more but wishes he would have done it on his last cycle. LAter, Green IP: Logged |

also, in college we did sprints with surgical tubing...running away is resistance, running toward made your stride longer and faster...totally exhausted the body...hey, the car push rules...good post! IP: Logged |

Yeah, it doesn't seem that weird to me and I agree it is one of the best ways to get that heart pumping. I knew a guy who used to tie a rope around himself and pull a car all the time. Peace...Mav IP: Logged |
