Have any of you guy's wondered why almost all the big pro bodybuilders today started bodybuilding in the 80's? Well I remember reading a post on this board a few weeks ago which may have given the answer. I think it was about how much steroids Arnold and the guy's in his time where alledgedly taking. Anyway, one guy claimed that bodybuilders in the 1980's where taking just as much steroids if not more than they are today. Well I would agree with that. Why? Well ask yourself this: what is the main thing that is holding you back from using more steroids than you are using now? I would say that 90% of you guy's will say " They are too expensive and I can't afford to take much more on my budgit, besides most of the info floating around today suggest you don't have to use mega doses to get big". Correct me if I am wrong. I have an extensive collection of bodybuilding magazines going back to the 80's and the one thing that stands out the most is the difference in training methods between then and now. Most bodybuilders in the 80's were following double split routines training 6 days a week. How the hell could they do this and still recover? Easy, because they were using huge amounts of steroids. Today most pro bodybuilders have switched over to training 4 or 5 days per week, once per day with each bodypart only being trained once every week. Why? well probably because they don't want to go back to using the huge amounts of steroids they were using in the 80's, as it would probably knock too big a hole in their contract money. Besides, GH and Insulin are the big thing in pro bodybuilding now, the steroids are just used to supplement them. Maybe I'm talking crap, but from what I have read on this board and several other web sites this seems to be the way bodybuilding has progressed. To a point where unless you have got a shit load of money to begin with, or your best mate works for Organon, forget ever becoming the next Mr O. What do you guy's think? IP: Logged |

This depends upon whom you talk to. Alot of the milder & safer drugs like anavar ( is made again but is 350 dollars per bottle of 100 tabs) are essentially off the market. Athletes are forced to use drugs like generic dianabol and various testosterones or whatever they can get ahold of (as opposed to the 1980's when you could get a generic deca 200 mg vial for around 4 dollars). The top BB's are using much more than the guys in the 1980's by far. In the 80's the guys thought there was some kind of magical combination of drugs in precise amounts that were to to work. Wheras now its (a minimum) 1 gram of testosterone per week, a couple of oxymetholone tabs/day, and at least 400 mg of deca ,plus a minimum of of 4iu of GH per day. Toss in some tamoxifen and some clen and now your talking. As far as the training- as soon as the six day a week /two times a day shit went away eveyone, drug free and chemically augmented trainers alike began to get bigger and, obviously recuperate better. Change to higher protein and less of those damn carbs was also important. ------------------ IP: Logged |

You are right the pro bodybuilders today are taking a shit load of stuff. You only have to look at how their bodies have changed over the years. Height for weight most of the pro women today are as big as the guy's back in Arnolds day and they are a lot more ripped - sorry but genetics don't change that fast, unless you want to re-write Darwen's theory of evolution. However I believe the change in pro bodybuilders today is also down to the amount of other drugs that they are using that may not have been used back in the 80's i.e. IGF1, GH, Insulin etc. IP: Logged |

l think they use more now, but it's more of a combination of roids, insulin and GH. They get ugglier to. Big hands, feet, the shape of the head changes, etc. But is's all for the money, right? ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short IP: Logged |

MadMitch: Your answer to your rhetorical question, why?, is not correct. Gear is probably the cheapest thing on a BB's wish list. ------------------ BECOME SOMEONE'S HERO! IP: Logged |

saying bodybuilders took more roids in the 80s cuz they were cheap as dirt is like saying because drugs were legal in the 60s everyone did cocaine. john IP: Logged |

Todays BB's look like freaks. That isn't good. How are we supposed to gain favor with general public and expand the market value of the sport if poeple are disgusted with the athletes. That is why Shawn Ray sould be the Mr. Olympia. Always clean, not too big and does minimum drugs. Does anyone know what Chris Cormier takes? He looks great, if is taking GH/IGF1 then he is a new era of BB because it doesn't show. ------------------ IP: Logged |
