Have any of you worked out at the Gold's in Venice? I went out that way for a strength seminar in Vegas and drove out to Venice to see what all the fuss was about. At first I saw all of the homeless and the freaks and wasn't too sure about it. After a day passed I started to warm to the place. The next day I decided to train at the "Mecca." I couldn't believe how fricken' huge the place is. I think it is something like 3 warehouse buildings put together. I walked in and immediatly seen Charles Glass and Rico McClinton training. Mitsuri Okabe was doing a photo shoot with AAron Mardron for Cell-tech. Me and my buddy were doing legs that day and walked over to the power rack. I was squatting and got done with my set and my friend said, "Hey, Look behind you, it's Lou Ferregno." I was like, "Yeah right.....Shit!!....It is Lou." Lou is and has always been a jerk. I've met him a couple times at some shows and he is a pompous ass. He walked over to a girl using the pec deck and watched her crotch until she was finished. No class! The girls there all dress in the tightest shit you would ever believe. When you see girls that are overweight (Like in my gym) wearing spandex it's pretty sick, but watching Theresa Hessler walking around in Gold's was like a F-ing dream. Raye Hollit was training as well. The atmosphere was electric. Everybody was doing there own thing. I actually got lost because they have so much equipment and it's so large, I didn't know where the chinning bar was. I had to ask some beautiful model-type girl where it was. If you guys ever get down that way...AND YOU NEED TOO....give me an e-mail and I will tell you where to stay. You have to eat at Arnold's restaurant, "Schatzi's on Main." It had the best food and service I have ever had. Talk about a great trip. Remember to hit the "Firehouse" for breakfast. I was eating there and saw Scott Connaly of Met-rx sitting down eating and doing some work. They have a bodybuilding breakfast which consists of 5 egg whites, 3 pancakes and an 8 ounce steak. Just got back from there this morning. Not sure if you noticed, but they only have ONE fricking flat bench, ONE incline, and yes you guessed it, only ONE decline bench. Some of the stuff is getting old too. BUT, they are remodeling - finally. Of course it is STILL the place to see a folks. Aaron Baker is now doing personal training and if you gots the dime, buy some time. He is very open and loves to talk shop. Glass is ALWAYS there (but ya can't afford him  ), Paul D was working arms... sweet. And Kelly Ryan was doing back - she's looking thick, should be just a bout ready to start cutting for the O. Oh, and a small Mike Christiansen - Busy doing his clothing line I guess and no time to workout.If you do go to "the house" DON'T get anything but the breakfasts. The BodyBuilder #1 and #2 only come with 6oz of chicken and it ain't enough for a growing boy. Or if you do, get another side of chicken, hell just order the whole chicken option - but be ready to shell out some coin! If you take your babe with ya, check out the Hot Skins store, the Perfetto shop, and Maxx Muscle for some cool 'guy' wear. If your going to be there for more than a day, check out the Power House too. Just a short walk up from Golds. just got back from venice today as a matter of fact. didnt go to the mecca though. walked the beach etc. checked out muscle beach. wasnt impressed with the guys working out there today, but i have seen some big cats there sometimes. i went with my bro and hes not so into training so ill have to make a trip back solo to train at the mecca and eat at the firehouse. I didn't know Warlobo train over there. Yeah, they are romodeling. Some of the equipment is old, but a lot of them are awesome. The pussies that go there are top notch. It doesn't get any better. If I lived in Venice I would probably go to some of the less expensive places like Koo Koo Roos which is pretty cool, but I always had heard of the Firehouse so I kinda wanted to take it in. I wish I had more time than the 3 days. It was also cool because nobody really bothers you. You could walk around the beach with tampons on your ears and nobody would care. I live in Michigan and I have never see a beach with mountains on the right and the left of me. They also have a cool rollarblading trail that is like 25 miles long. I could have stayed there and just watched the girls skate by and call it a great trip. IP: Logged |

All true bbdlrmurph! especially at the Golds Gym. Everyone does their own thing because thats where the pros are at. They don't bother you if you don't bother them. Lqd, didn't see Flex - he could have been taking a dump or something though. And yes they do have some good equipment, just can't go on chest day cause I like the free weights for bench. And yes, chicken IS chicken! I'm about 70 min from Golds so I don't go everyweek or anything, just fun to hit it now and then to see all the freaks and geaks LAte Lobo IP: Logged |

yeah there is a couple of guys on this board, pizzaman and lordblazetrip, I got into a big debate, and they have never even been to LA, not to mention I live there, but I told them they dont know shit, told them to come to venice and go to golds then see what they had to say, if people only knew, LA is the best place to live, and if you dont know now you Know!!!!!!!!!!! LA is the BEST. Not to mention mexico is 1hr45min away, let em know, or you guys betta ask somebody........ IP: Logged |

Hey C-Dizz, If I didn't have such a good paying job here, I would pack my bags and move to LA/Venice in a heart beat. I plan on making a trip out there at least once a year. Thinking about Venice sometimes gets me through work. Yes by the way, I do have a ton of assholes in my gym. I use them for workout motivation mostly. za World gym still there? just down the street. Less flash but a real good serious atmosphere. I'll never forget Gunther S. working out some poor, unhappy twelve year old boy on sweats. Kid musta been the son of a Hollywood producer or some shit. Not his decision to be in a gym. Mebbe not enough spandex and eyeliner at World for some dudes. Gold's Venice is remodeling right now. I can tell you how to sneak it if anyone is interested... ;-) GREAT gym. HUGE. So are the guys. Intimidating for those who have even the slightest amount of body consciousness. World's moved to the corner of Washington and Lincoln, still in Venice (at the border of Marina del Rey), but not as close to the beach or the Gold's and Powerhouse. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I liked Gold's, but not any better than the Powerhouse or World's. Actually, World's was probably my pick out of the three. I also hit muscle beach and that was fun, but wouldn't do it regularly. Went to Firehouse, but got FOOD POISONING from a burger... thank god I only ate half of it. IP: Logged |

ask some of these guys they will tell there are women bigger than dudes in there so i am not ashamed to say I have seen women swolled up like and maybe bigger than Mr. Galaxy, and me, so hey like I said go to Golds in Venice then you wont say SHIT!!!!!!!!1 IP: Logged |

I was just out in LA myself. What a world of difference from New England. Hated the smog, LOVED THE WOMEN and the cars. Tried to get to Venice, but didn't have time. Don't think I would want to live there, but the proximity to good ol me-hi-co is definitely a selling point... IP: Logged |
