Haven't posted in a while, mostly due to being pissed off about my shitty health. Hopefully someone might learn from my mistake. Basically I was in the fourth week of a sus/dbol cycle (which was going quite well) when all of the sudden I couldn't shit! I'm not talking just run of the mill constipation, as I was in so much pain I could NOT MOVE. After a lengthy hospital stay and colonoscopy (where they stick a camera 6ft up your ass) I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. This was probably due to lack of fiber in my diet. Like most of you I usually don't have the time to eat, let alone prepare the sheer volume of food necessary to support a descent cycle. So I got lazy and "supplemented" my diet with meal replacement shakes and protein powders. I was also taking the usual supplements to help counter the "bad" effects of AAS such as clomid, evening primrose, flaxseed oil and most of the other stuff anyone would take who had put a good amount of research in their cycle. Yeah, I thought I was real smart--right up untill the point where I was in agony and couldn't move. I thought only 80 year old guys needed fiber, not me. Well I was wrong and, in addition to rather large medical bills (I have insurance but I still had to cover about a grand) I haven't been able to lift for three months. All this trouble because I made life hard on my colon. The problem wasn't just lack of fiber. It turns out that those wonderfully convenient meal replacement shakes and protein powders can be very bad for your gastrointestinal tract--especially in the amount most of us need to make the most of a cycle. Some people can even be sensitive to protein itself, sometimes to the point of being allergic. It sounds like a bunch of bullshit from the kind of doctors we all can't stand but its true. The moral of this story is to be careful/thoughtful about your diet. Its not just as simple as throwing 400+ grams of protein in your gut and taking the right "accessory" drugs. Sorry about the really long-ass post but I just felt the need to inform all my Iron Bros. Peace IP: Logged |

Good point. Consuming such a large amount of food can be hard on the system especially when your diet is low on fiber. I never imagined;however, that it could come to be such a severe problem as you experienced. Thanks for the post. I will most definetely be making a mental note on this. Good luck in regaining your health. I hope you're soon back on your way to becoming a superman. IP: Logged |

Zara: I tuned into your thread because, as a "2001: A Space Odyssey" afficionado I loved your title. But I stayed for the content. Sorry about your trouble, bro. Thanks for making sure some of the other brothers got some good out of it. You got heart, Zman. Hope you're back in the gym pronto, feelin' good, kickin' ass and liftin' heavy.
