I'm not sure if it matters as much as it used to (when you didn't need an ID to open a private box) I am not sure, will bump. Slopain IP: Logged |

I'm REALLY interested to hear what all the bros have to say about this. Slopain, I didn't know you needed an ID just to get your mail at Mail Boxes Etc. Are all of them that way? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Private mailboxes are better than the P.O.boxes. Much better. I read a post here once that said you can get one at seven eleven, without needing an ID, I'm not sure about that though. ------------------ _______________________ IP: Logged |

MAIL BOXES ECT. IS THE BETTER PACKAGE. THEY WILL GIVE YOU A FAX # A KEY TO THE MAIN DOOR SO YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR PO. BOX AT ANY TIME. YOU CAN CALL ANYTIME TO SEE IF YOU HAVE MAIL ELIMINATES DRIVING TO AN EMPTY MAIL BOX. ALONG WITH A HOST OF OTHER SERVICES. OH I OPENED MINE WITHOUT ANY I.D. ANOTHER ++++. IP: Logged |

So MBE is the way to go? Has anyone had trouble with them? ------------------ IP: Logged |

I am almost positive the law states you need an ID, of course we know they will be more lax than the Post Office, I like the 24 hour access. On these facts above it looks like MBE all the way. Anyone know how the faxes work? When you recieve a fax they place it in the box or what? Slopain IP: Logged |

How about prices for either of them? How much do they charge per month on average? IP: Logged |

they hold it for you I believe and they put a slip in your box saying to pick it up (during business hours) If your ordering shit I dont think it will be much biger than that - it would be a couple of packages no one big one. Slopain IP: Logged |

If your not short on money get the big one, at the very least get the medium, just make sure you ask your supplier - I am sure they all mostly deliver to boxes anyway so they know whats safe to send and whats not.. Slopain IP: Logged |

4 x 5 inch doesn't sound like a normal envelope would even fit. I will go check it out too. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Keep in mind that prices will probably vary between MBE's since they are independent franchises. There have been people busted by using MBE just as there have been people busted by a USPS box, neither is necessarily safer than delivering to home. And it is law that you show ID and sign paperwork when getting your postal mail sent to a PO Box. IP: Logged |

one foot deep helps! I was thinking "Now what the fuck would anyone want with 4 x 5 inches?" I bet it would be safer to go get the package at night. I'd be nervous as shit if it came and they wanted me to come in during business hours though. ------------------ IP: Logged |

My MBE has a slightly different setup. When I get a package, I get a numbered key which corresponds with one of the package lockers inside the store. They work just like the ones in airports (key is held in the lock after you're done). They have lockers big enough for any package I've ever recieved. The nice thing about this is that they've only seen me once (the day I got my box). I pick up all my packages after hours (paid $5 deposit on a key for the front door), and put my payment in the night drop box 4 times a year (money order of course). My box is only $10 a month. Guess it varies. Check around and try to find a MBE that operates like this one if you're super paranoid. IP: Logged |

I went to open a mailbox at mbe and they told me they need the names of all the people that will recive mail there and if anything comes in with a different name it get rejected. Adding the fake name doesn't make sense so what do I do ???????? IP: Logged |

Anvil has it right. He was lucky though about getting away without ID. My experience was exactly like his except they did require ID and a phone number. The form you sign gives them the right to "search" the contents of the box if law enforcement requests them to. Items too large are held in back and a notice placed in the box which requires you to go there when the counter is open but typically they are so busy they barely look at the package anyway.
