![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually the GC/MS test you are referring to is the Gas Chromotography/Magnetic Spectroscopy test. It's pretty standard these days...used to do them in Physical Chemistry labs all the time....talk about boring... DO NOT ask me to explain to you how it works. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It depends on how long/what drugs you were on. Most drug screens are done using the EMIT test. The EMIT test checks for the "NIDA big 5" Steroids are not checked for with the EMIT. You said that they used the GC/MS test. If so, then your screwed if you've taken juice within 14 days of the test. GC/MS is 99% accurate and stands up in court. If they tell you that you are positive, raise hell. Orchic extract (found in bulls balls) will give a positive for anabolic steroid use. It is a legitimate substance that causes the test to imply that you abuse steroids. Also, DHEA taken by AIDS patints will show a false positive for roids, but I doubt if an ambulance company would hire anyone with AIDS. If you were on anything else besides juice, let me know and I can tell you some false pos. for other drugs. Good luck to you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Usually, a GC/MS (Gas Chromatography [used to separate the components in a sample] and Mass Spectroscopy [used to test the component individually to see what they are] -- sorry, but I had to correct this) is used only for the confirmation of a positive drug screen. Why? One, it's an expensive test. Two, the instrument has to be set up in a way that will look for a certain compound. It's not an instrument for screening purposes. It's just not designed or capable of that. For example, Ben Johnson was first screened for steroids back in the Olympics through a urine test. This is where they simply check the testosterone/epitestosterone level. His was unusually high. Therefore, they took this sample to the GC/MS. There are protocols for testing of different substances, and each steroid profile is different. Therefore, several tests were performed on this sample before the Winstrol metabolites in his system were found. Remember, this took days to prove during the Olympics. In other words, unless they were specifically testing you for steroids, you have nothing to fear. ------------------ IP: Logged |
