THIS DIET THING IS REALLY CONFUSING ME, IAM 171 POUNDS AND I'VE BEEN TRYING DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO DIETS. I DO AN HOUR CARDIO 5 TIMES A WEEK AND TRAIN ONE BODY PART A WEEK.
I JUST BOUGHT THE ARNOLD SWAR ENCYCLOPEDIA TODAY AND HE SAYS IN THERE TO DIET FOR COMPETION TO LOWER YOUR CARBS AND FAT AS LOW AS THEY WILL GO, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T GO INTO KETOSIS AND KEEP YOUR PROTEIN HIGH. I BOUGHT 50 STRIPS OF THOSE KETOSIS STICKS AND I THINK I'M GOING TO TRY IT I WAS WONDERING YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS DIET.

I WAS GOING TO GO SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!!

PROTEIN-288G
CARBS-60G
FAT 25G
THEN WAIT THREE DAYS AND TAKE THE KETOSIS TEST, AND KEEP LOWERING IT UNTIL I REACH MY POINT. ON THE WEEKENDS I WAS GOING TO RAISE MY FAT AND CARBS AND LOWER MY PROTEIN. DO THINK THIS WILL WORK!!! NEED IMPUT!

I got that book myself. You know how all of that bullshit changes. The nutrition/supplement world is like computers...everything gets outdated fast. Regarding your diet, I can say this, low carb diets suck. If you are not planning on competeing anytime soon, I wouldn't even fuck with it. I have wondered if that weekend change diet works, let me know how that goes.

P.S. Be carefull with that book, If you have the soft cover, like me, then the middle pages will start to come out. Don't crease it!!

Hey Pinge, I just got done looking over your particulars. I do have some blind suggestions to give. Blind, because I am unaware of your present physical state, metabolic rate, somatotype. However, with a measure of certainty I believe your carb intake and fat intake are a bit out of proportion. 60g of carbs would be appropriate if you were in engauged in a weeks worth of carb depletion prior to show. You have not mentioned any aspirations to compete, so I believe this present diet is doing you a great diserves. I believe you could easily increase your complex carb intake to 200-300g and experience significant loss in bodyfat. The incoorporation of a thermogenic and 3 days a week on the treadmill before breakfast should be more than sufficient to make your goals.

Your present routine, considering the 5 days of cardio, and the lack of significant calories from carbs, and specifically fat seems highly catabloic vs anabolic. Your protien intake is satisfactory, but if your serious about your fat reduction aswell as maintaining lean muscle mass in the process you really have to eat a bit more.

Also, remember this rule of thumb with respect to your cardio. If the itensity is so great that you cannot conduct a conversation then you are entering a catabolic state. Your body will choose muscle as the primary source of fuel over fat.
