OK...all the docs out there.

For the last few weeks, if I go a long time without eating as soon as I do eat i feel very light headed and weak. Almost like a need a quick sugar hit or something, only the sugar bit does not help.

For example, if I miss lunch and do not eat until I get home, I feel great until 15 to 20 minutes after I eat...then I'm done, no energy..nothing. If I force myself into the gym I get over it and feel fine. I usuallu get a little hot flash too.

My weight has not dropped at all.

Any info ?

Are you in a cycle? What are you doing? Note: I am not a doctor but it would be your first question if I asked you this same thing.

Not a doc, but I'll throw this out there. I get something similar to what you're describing if I go for long periods of fasting (4 - 5 hours is fasting for me!). The time period you're describing for when you feel like ca-ca is about how much time it takes for all the blood to rush to your stomach to start the digestion process. That "loss of blood" from other bodily functions will make you drag. If you eat more meals that are smaller but closer together you avoid that problem to large extent. Do you notice that same problem when you eat regularly or is just when you've been "fasting?"

agreed with aahthit.

majority of your blood going to digestion can take away some(less) than used regularly. brain comes first but a mild drop can be noticeable. couple that with rising serotonin levels and maybe ketosis and you got tired, weak, lightheaded.
another factor can be the increased blood volume and B.P. if you are on AS. just a theory.
if you are real concerned you can get some blood work done but i doubt its anything to be concerned with.

Hey BPP- I'm no doctor, but I have had the same thing happen when carb-loading during a low carb diet. I usually will take a couple Vanadyl tablets 15-30 minutes before eating high carb meals to avoid that feeling- it has seemed to help.

Right before you eat check your blood sugar levels. The nright after check then 15-20 minutes later check it again. If your blood sugar level peaks then goes right back down 15-20 minutes to near it was before eating. Then you are starting to get the early sign of diabetes. They make blood sugar monitors out there from drug stores. Get one and check. If it does do what I listed then go get checked by the doc, and let him know what kind of cycles you have been on. Sounds like your insulin levels are messed up.

Bro, get your blood sugar tested, just in case. Both fasting and after meals, several times.

This is nothing to play with.

BigPappa:

Some of your symptoms - rapid onset of lethargy after eating, hot flashes - as well as some of the other stuff you've been posting (Do I remember your complaining about depression last week, or was that another Mod?) seem to implicate a metabolic disturbance, perhaps an endocrine problem, that may be related to gear. That's why you have to tell us the rest of the story - your age, diet, what meds and/or gear you're on, etc. - if we're to get to the bottom of this.

You probably have a doc who monitors you during your cycles. Give him a call.

Thanks for they reply's.

I'm really not on any specific meal plan, I eat everything that I can. No carb deplete or keto diet here.

The feeling is not just a lazy no energy feel, hard to explain other than by using the 'feel like I need some sugar" sensation.

My cycle is roughly 1500 mg of test and 400 mg deca per week. I am 32, roughly 234 lbs and have never had any ill health problems before....never been depressed as asked above....must be someone else. Maybe this is just a passing phase. I had my bp checked and all was good. I'll try the blood sugar test and see how it goes.

BigPapaPump,
First I would like to thank you and all the mods for doing such a great job, second,I hope you get to feeling better. The signs and symptoms you display are preludes to type 2 diabetes.People with diab. usually have to keep a snack at bedside for nightime. They wake up feeling weak, dissorienteed, and so forth.I emplore you to get your blood glucose level checked.Try to get a fasting blood glucose level first,(don't eat,or drink any sugar containing products after midnight,I know that isnt easy),your blood glucose level should be between 60-100mg/dl fasting.Second, eat your regular breakfast, wait 2 hours, and get another test done,it should be between 120-140 mg/dl.That is the normal range thereafter. We really are concerned when you are hyperglycemic, that is when your level of blood glucose is between 200-1000 mg/dl.I am not an M.D.,but im in nursing school, and this is what we are studying in our patho.class.I HOPE I am wrong with my initial thoughts, but I can safely speak for everyone when I say talk to a doc.,and hope you feel better!!

Ulter:

Epstein Barr is a possibility (sorry you got EB, that really SUCKS), but the "hot flash" BigPapa talked about doesn't fit, and EB is a pretty "fuzzy" syndrome, unfortunately, not taxonomically clean, that's why it's hard to diagnose. The hot flash BigPapa mentioned points straight to the endocrine system, IMO. Tucker had some good ideas for the man. Let's let him get the gluco level, and see where he stands then.

BTW, I'm not a doc either, but I know a lot of this stuff.

Good luck, Papa!

Definatetly sounds like Hypogycemia. You can buy a home glucose test kit at most pharmacies, their not that expensive, easy to use and will tell you whether or not to pursue a doctor about it. I had this same problem a few years ago and found out I was a "Borderline Diabetic". I dont need to take insulin but do need to eat something every few hours to keep my insulin levels balanced.

BPP, yes I agree with the hypogycemia. Also, keep in mind that diabetes does not come on that suddenly (that's good). There is a very real fly it the ointment here. I would not allow the body to go that long without eating (at least something). It will eat into muscle glycogen stores. That is not so conducive to growth. So it is obvious that 15-20 minutes after you eat you feel grat- your body is being allowed to enjoy the nutrients given. The crash is because your body now needs to restore all the borrowed sugars.

Let us know

Also, follow up with your family M.D. or D.C. for that matter and have your hemeglobin levels checked.
