Be honest about what I need to work on.
I am 5'9" and 185 pounds.

I have been working out seriously for 7 years. I did powerlifting mostly, but now I want to BB.

Yo bad dog,
Good effort so far, but post a pick that has a leg shot. Legs are by far the measure of man's intestinal fortitude. I hate chickens that walk around with an imaginary lat spread and kentucky fried quads. Also, consider hitting a pose in your next pick. I have to give you props though because it takes big ole' cajones to post your pic on this board. It's like living with Tackleberry's family here! They roast the hell out of you but give you support afterward. Tough love?
Things to improve on? - Traps and lats (at least that's how it looks from the pic). Don't neglect your non-"t-shirt" muscles! Peace bro.

Quads are coming along! Hit up a bulking cycle and stick with the power movements. Isolation won't put the size on you like dead's, squats, bench presses and rows. Once again, mad props for posting your pics. Takes guts.

Your quads look pretty good for your size. You need to work on....everything else! Your upperbody is underdeveloped, comparatively. You might want to think about working your calves every other day to catch up with your quads. Your abs are starting to show, you need to start hitting them every day to really cut them up and add some size. Also, from your pic, I can't see any back (lats) development at all.

At 22, I'd say you've got a great foundation to work on. IMO, your legs look better than your upper body, but it still looks good anyway. Try doing some strict dumbell pull-overs to square your lower pecs and bring out your seratis anterior muscles (the finger like muscles on your rib cage). These work great for me, I do them on my back day though.

Your legs look decent. Definitely a good foundation there.

Upper body needs some work bro. Not really one area - the whole thing just needs to get bigger. Don't be discouraged - a lot can change in a year.

How long have you been training?

Email me some more info if you want - goals, experience, your current routine, etc.....

I can help but it will be hard to talk on the board like this.

Matt,

I think he said he has trained for 7 years.

Fender,

You have a solid foundation, but I will tell you the truth about what you need to work.

You have decent shoulders, but you need more mass and separation from the surrounding muscle groups.

Your traps need work. It looks as if you have a think long neck, so your neck dwarfs your traps.

Your arms are also okay, but you need to bulk them up and start to separate the lumpy mass into bicep and triceps...and so forth.

Your lower chest is fine, but you need some separation in between the chest. You also need to build mass on your upper chest.

Do heavy ab exercises to bring them out then do high reps every day for a few weeks during your cutting phase to really show them off.

Your midsection is really hurting you. I can see a partial love handle and that sets off your body. Once you are finished with the bulking stage, then make sure to do broomstick-twists to harden your obliques so they will look good after your cutting phase.

Your thighs really show that you did do some type of power lifting, but they probably make you look even shorter because they are stumpy compared to your upper body. As someone suggested, try to build your calves to compensate for the thighs. Don't stop doing squats no matter what, though.

Get a tan too. It helps you look better. I would recommend a good self-tanner instead of getting cancer in the sun.

You should e-mail Matt for some info. He has a wealth of knowledge that I am sure he would not mind sharing.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Legs are definately your strong point and they look great! Time to catch your upper body up with them. Good Luck Bro!

Legs look fantastic.

What do your quads measure?

Upperbody needs the same commitment as your legs.

Coming on great, well done!
