to tell me if you think im overtraining: mon-chest: flat bench 5 sets , incline 3 sets, decline 3 sets, cable crossovers 3sets tues-back: deadlifts 5 sets, lat pull downs 3 sets, bent over rows 3 sets, pullovers 3 sets wed-legs: squats 5 sets, extensions 5 sets, leg curls 5 sets, calfs 3 sets thurs-shoulders: clean n press 3 sets, upright rows 3 sets, military press 3 sets, side and front lateral raise 3 sets fri-arms:tri push daowns 3 sets, close grips 3sets, skull krushers 3 sets, bicep curls 3 sets, dumbell curls 3 sets, incline dumbell curls 3 sets , wrist curls 3 sets , reverse wrist curls 3 sets what do you think am i overtraining??i know for anyone that knows anything about serious training this is a little gay ass "weider workout" but a couple bros over at itstherock.com turned me onto a powerlifting program where i will only be working out from 3 to 4 days a week stressing movement not workouts to work seperate specific muscle group. when doing these power lifts im gonna be doing soon everything gets worked not just one body part at a time like im curremtly doin-oh yea and by the way its a 3 month workout program which includes absolutley zero flat bench --flat bench is overatted-you need to do these power movements then you ll increase strenght on everything --sya i was to keep up my regular workout the way it is i would struggle setting p.r's on my flat -but by the time im done with power lifting ill be on my way to crushing them-anyways by the time it comes to shoulders on thurs im always sore as hell from squatting the day before and just overall need a break --overtraining??????? i agree with the flat bench being over rated part!! and as for the ? of overtraining i think that program is ok, just lower the amount of sets to 3-4 tops! thats where the overtraing is coming in, not the amount of training days and actual exercizes, but the over working of the muscle groups "in" each exercize by doing too many sets!!! Id rather do more exercizes, with less sets, BUT more reps per set.....i feel its more effective! the whole variety thing! just my .02 good luck... ------------------ IP: Logged |

I do a similar workout. I agree with matty when he says limit the sets. Three sets on any exercise of 10 reps and four sets anything with 6-8 reps. The only difference in my workout is I work tris on chest day and bis on back day, leaving me with a four day training schedule. The reason for this is working the "pull" muscles together (back & bis) and the push muscles together (chest & tris) because these recruit a lot more of the same supporting muscles. Therefor you get more rest, by only working them once a week. ---------------- Bossman IP: Logged |
