what will make the traps GROW the fastest. today i noticed one is larger than the other. i attribute it to carrying my schoolbag on one shoulder. what excercise will help the one thats lagging in the least amount of time. shrug on the one side? upright row or both or what??? sorry if this sounds kinda anal...

thanks
chris

do heavy shrugs. They'll even out, dont' worry. Your body is not gonna let itself get out of balance for long.

alot of people dont know how to get big traps. heres what you do, get the 35 lb bar, put 145 on it or more if you like, first grab the bar in close with your hands about 3 inches from each other, pull straight up with your traps then let down, just up and down, after 10 or 12, spread your hands real wide and shrug straight up and straight down, do about 12 like this, so thats about 25 all together, do this about 4 times. when you do them with hands close it works the part of the trap by the kneck, when you put the hands real wide it works the part by the shoulder, then when you do the dumbells it is all over, then get the dumbells, hold bells in front of you maybe a little to the side, shrug straight up and let down, remember to look down while doing the lift, after 10 shrugging both at once.... just do the right side 10 times, then do just the left side 10 times. then do both again 10 times, do this all at once, thats about 30 in one set. Look my traps use to be huge, they still look good, but if your traps get too big they can make you look narrow. Try this next time, dont do traps when you work your shoulders, do them when you work your back, so you can get a maximum amount of blood in the site.

I either go really heavy, or really light and burn the hell out of them with as many reps as I can muster out.

I would go heavy.

Also, do the majority of you shrugs with dumbells. The reason for this is that you are working each side with the same amount of weight.

When you use the straight bar, the dominent side of your body wil pull harder and get more work then the weaker side.

That is aso why guys do dumbells presses, gives each pec the same workout. Gives even and fuller look.

Also, dumbells let you be more strict on form then the straight bar.

If you watch 90% of guys/gals in the gym that do straight bar shrugs you will see arms pullong, legs jerking, back jerking etc. This is not good form. With the dumbells, you can be strict ad use those traps.

Deadlifts are also very good to build up the trapz wether low reps or high reps. Just look at the powerlifters. Ever see one with small trapz?

c-dizzo your post makes me want to go kill those trapz right now. My trapz are average but I think I will start working them more to get them freaky...

On a side note started training neck in the last 2 weeks...Anyone else???

I suggest wearing your backpack over both shoulders.

Yeah, besides, carrying the pack over one shoulder can cause posture and back problems over time.
