tbigg:

Try switching from bars to bells. They give you a better stretch at the bottom of the rep, and have blasted me out of a previous plateau much like yours. Give this a try for a few weeks, then strength test yourself against a bar like you're loading up now. You may be surprised.

Find what works for YOU, not Flex Wheeler or Ronnie Coleman.

I respond a lot better to low sets, medium to high reps.

try clenching your shoulder blades together when doing chest exercises, make sure you focus on the chest muscle. think it chest muscles.

Here's my favorite.

1) Bench Press: 6,5,4,3 (start with most you can get for 6 and add 10 pounds on each following set.

2) Incline Press: 6,8,10,12

3) Dumbell Chest Press: 8,8,8

4) Cable Flys: 12,10,8 (put bench under cables and do from bottom)

5) Weighted dips: 15,15,15

I do each bodypart only once a week which is why so much.

Curious, I just started this method FUKKENSHREDDED uses. Where you don't count the reps per set just take each set of the excercise to failure. I had to lay down I was so tired when I finished. I've never been so exhausted. Did you ever try this?

i have two chest workouts...one time i use mostly barbell, the next i use mostly dumbells...but in both ill dedicate the last 3 sets to very strict form, deep stretches and real good peak contractions on some sort of machine, where my first 6 sets are your typical power type sets, by the way, i do pyramid 10-8-6 on each exercise

ulter, i have tried the failure thing in the past and it did work well until i pulled a pec muscle. that has kept me from trying it but i might as well do it again but with more form and i will use the dumbells so i can get the best out of both worlds thanx.

My partner and just completed Shawn Philips bench press routine "add 40lbs. to your bench". And I'm telling you it was a great 6-weeks. we both worked up to a 315 and 300 max at the end of six weeks. My partner and I have not done any roids, yet.
Here is a couple of web sites with pretty much the same thing but one prints out better. Give this a serious try, what else have you got to do for 6-weeks. www.interport.net/~dl/bench.html www.musclemedia.com/training/bench/benchintro.asp

I have to agree that the Shawn Phillips routine kicks ass. I have done it before and it really works. Bill Kazmier has a much better routine to add more like 90-100lbs to your bench in a month but I can not find it. If you do find it then send me an e-mail.

Later,
giantset
