My question:

Should you always lift heavy (4-7reps)? While on gear?

I usually take 1 week and lift light (8-12 reps) to let my system recover. Is there any benefit to do this while on a cycle or should I lift heavy the whole duration.

Just looking for some general info on what works for you.

Thanks

I rarely lift anything besides heavy even when off of gear.

While juicing and trying to grow bigger, heavy for 5-7 reps for 3 sets. If cutting I go more for the light weights for 3 sets last on til I can't go anymore. While off I usuall still do the cutting routine, I try to give my joints relief while not trying to bulk up. The joints are starting to get pretty bad, so heavy kills the shoulders and elbows.

I disagree with the high reps when cutting theory. When your are taking in sub maintenance calories, you want to prevent muscle loss. This can be done using HEAVY HEAVY weights for moderate reps. Just mix it up a little, do some high reps(13-15) sets and some heavy sets moderate rep sets (9-12). About how much you should do when on gear, do as many as you can then do some more (maybe with help from a spotter) . I read recently that coleman believes in HEAVY weights for high reps. So weight you would normally do 6 - 8 reps with, do 12 reps, the last couple with very little help from a spotter.

4-8 reps on large multijoint exercises and 10-12 reps on smaller singlejoint isolation exercises.

When on I like 6-10 reps depending on exercise.

When off I go to 8-12reps.

Squats and Deads are the only exercise that I will do 15-20 reps on.
