Hey bros I got a glucose meter cuz I am going to try to "use insulin to go in to ketosis quick". Got the info from
www.eleitefitness.com/ubb/Archives/Forum11/03-2000/000484.html

any way I was playing around with the meter and I checked my girlfriends blood. It was 79. Ther strips say low is 54-84 and high is 216-293.

Do you think hers is too low should we go th the doctor?? I dont know anything about diabeties. Is too low bad or is too high bad??

Thanx bros

no, everyone is different and if she is showing no signs of hypoglycemia then don't worry. Becarefull when you use those meters to check you glucose levels. They are not very reliable and sometimes have a fairly large error rate so if your feeling bad like your blood sugar is low(for the ketosis diet) and you check you glucose level and it says 80+ then check it again. I was sweating bullets, dizzy and weak and the sucker told me I had a 87 glucose level. I was shaking so bad I checked it again and it was wrong....55 was the real number. Becarefull with this technique and have someone around if your going to inject in the muscle rather than the fat. It hits you hard and fast!!

Hey Bro,
I would not worry about your girls blood sugar, It really does depend on her last time eating anything. If you want to know how it feels like to have your blood sugar go low I can tell you. First you get a hunger headache, moody, then your hands shake and then you feel weak. Hopefully by this time you get a little oj to pick up your blood sugar. Be careful with this and always have at least a piece of hard candy on you for precation.

high and low numbers you are referring to are for quality control only when calibrating the meter. It is NOT an indicator of your actual blood glucose. An AVERAGE blood sugar ranges anywhere from 70-120 on the meter. It also depends alot on when you ate last and what you ate. If you want a true measure of blood sugar try taking a fasting glucose. You do this by not eating anything right before bed and checking your blood sugar as soon as you wake up. This should give you a better idea of where you and she stand. If you have any other questions feel free to drop me a line and I will be glad to help you
