Anyone else heard this theory that you shouldn't drink water from a fountain during your workout cuz u bring in air? What's that all about?

you always bring air in even drinking from a cup. water also contains air. You could get an IV to get water intake to cut some air down. but boy we all would look stupid dragging that behind us.

i.v. h20....hahahaha. For crying out loud, drinking water from the fountain ain't gonna do shit do your workouts in a negative or positive way. If you're thirsty drink water, if not don't. Be mentally tougher, so you won't read some article and get all frazzled....no flame, but all these people with their bullshit theories just PISS ME OFF

Bro, drinking from a fountain won't bother your workouts. However, people are always coughing and spitting in the fountains, so it probably isn't the cleanest place to drink from. I always bring some water in a bottle with me to the gym. I read the same article you did, and although I respect Vince Gironda, I think some of his theories are a little off the wall. He said that people can eat as much fat as they want because it does not clog the arteries. He said his family members lived into their 90's and ate sausage and butter and all sorts of things. It's called genetics Vince, most people wouldn't make it half that far on a diet like that.

Getting to the point where Im afraid to ask anything, I might get flamed. If all questions had to be accepted by everyone or it wasnt ok to ask them, we might as well all just commit mass suicide. I will not be a robot.

I know what you're saying XCYTER. I answered some guys post earlier (his first post to be exact), and the first thing he did was ask everyone to take it easy on him. Definately WAY too much flaming these days. By the way, I read the article too but really don't have an opinion on it. Just can't stand all the flaming anymore.

You know what guys if you do not believe or understand what people are talking about don't flame them. We are all in this together. i would understand if i was telling a 18yr old girl she should take 2 a-50 a day along with 750 sos a week.

If you don't like what I have to say and you want to do something about it. i am at Texas Gym in Mesquite Texas every Saturday from around 11am - 1pm. Blond hair blue eyes. Asked the guy at the counter(Kim the owner) were the leg room is.

I work every 4th Sat until 1pm and then I go up there.
Asswipes!

Look checkmatebloated, I wasn't flaming anybody's ass....I was trying to help the guy out by letting him know that there a lot of bullshit theories out there, and that he should let his instinct work for him. Looks like I should have said that to begin with cause some folks can't read between the lines. BTW, I train in Plano so you're not far away if I did want to do something about it.

D

p.s. I know I just got here, but is this board all about trying to intimidate people or about helping each other??? wtf??

It is about helping people and I in no way intend to intimidate people. I was going to e-mail juiceboy, but some people like me have to drink out of a squeeze bottle. It is a rare case I think, but when I dring out of a water fountain. I do swallow air and get bloated(that is not were my nickname came from). I am not sure where he was going with this, but everone is saying that is crap, but it is not. I make a point to have a water bottle with me on leg days or every 10 days when I dead lift. If I don't I will get so bloated it is hard to dive on a dealift without curving my back and feeling really uncomfortable.

I also train at bally's in Garland of Northwest and Centerville, maybe we can train together some day or meet at Champs during a cowboy game and check out the hoes. I man not sure If you know MonkE he post on a couple of other boards. He is from plano also

I'm sure it's more of a personal preference thing than anything else. I'm not the expert but drinking out of foutain isn't going to keep anyone on a/s, or not on a/s from growing. If drinking from a foutain makes you feel bloated, dont do it. Simple trial and error ought to clear this one up for you.

Checkmate: Hope you have fun watching your cowboys get manhandled by my skins this season bro! hehe it's all good man.

What the fuck?? I post this and I come back and look to see the replies? What the fuck is goin on here, I don't follow this rule or anything, I'm simply wondering what the point of not drinkin from a fountain was cuz I'd never heard of it and was wonderin if anyone else had. You know, kinda like makin conversation. Instead I get flamed? Like I'm some kind of newbie or something? What is up with that? Do you guys think you're all that now? I'm willing to bet half of the flames came from 140lbers that are not even old enough to use AS or know anythin about them for that matter. But hey flame on if it makes u feel better.

And by the way Deacon, I don't think I need you to tell me to be mentally tougher cuz I simply was wondering about something, I asked the question cuz I didn't know anything about that, just like you don't know what u're talkin about. I never said anything about Vince being right or wrong in his thinking, hell I don't agree with most of it myself. But if you read something that u had never heard of before would u wanna find out about it or just sit there and disagree or agree without knowing what you're talkin about? Or would u like to just be uneducated on the subject all together, I don't think someone like you should ever go near AS, a gym, or even this board for that matter.

Tell you what, juiceboy, I can apologize for my reply coming across as a flame because I intented to help you.....but goddamnit when you blow your top and tell me that I don't belong on this board, in a gym, or near AS that's when I get a little upset. I didn't go through 5 years of college football, stick needles in my ass, and get a master's degree to get talked down to like that. NOW, if it was up to me I'd say that we forget the whole thing and start over because you're probably a pretty good guy, but it's up to you. Bottom line is that I just hate the media, magazines, radio, whatever and the constant problems they create whether it be with oneself or all society. If you guys run your board with temper-tantrums and disrespect and name-calling I'm out, but overall it seems like a good place. juiceboy....??????

Fukkenshreded,

I hate to make this board look any worse and me look any worse to a new member like Deacon. But, he lives within 15miles of me so if he wants to call me on any of this he and you(if you read above) know where to find me.

I am willing to bet that I benchpress more than you squat fukkenshreded. Don't tell me that if a water fountain screws up your workout you are not working out. What has happened to all of us? I'm not even flowing. I drink out of a straw or water bottle so I won't get bloated.

There are two things that I can see as a problem with using the drinking fountain at a gym:

#1 -- Excessive air in the stomach can cause gas, and in turn cause heartburn with the excess fluids in the stomach and the stress of lifting.

#2 -- Poor water quality from the fountain, aka California Water Supply. SoCal water is horrible. I keep my bottle with me at all times.

But, neither situation is dangerous or all that problematic. It's something of a personal preference. All water, sans distilled, has air dissolved in it. There's no way to avoid it completely.
